Hell yeah. I think Tormentors demos are kinda better than Mayhem's - Deathcrush honestly. Although I'm a bigger fan of 2nd wave black metal the most. But there's no denying the role early bands played in forming the sound of what we call black metal today.

Thinking about Kerry King just now been a couple months since I gave his new album a full play this guy is on another level of metal mayhem love it
I am assuming he is able to fly with a solo project band because he was in a great band like I haven't checked but thinking how I discovered Todd LaTorre and Joe Satriani by their newer solo releases then realized their band membership prior
Just checked Slayer go figure no wonder he kicks this hard
