What are you listening to this very nanosecond ?

Humming sound of university's general ventilation system!

It's pretty hypnotic and sedating, monotonic thing; that sound feels often just as a quiet background sound, when not listened intentionally ... And if it'll be listened, it often appears as a one solid sound. Sound of ventilation could feel like that for a little while. But after a certain period we'd get accustomed to listening, and then our ears become capable to hear distinct frequencies in the sound and we could detect clearly a group of wholly different sounds in one humming. When our ears and mind could work in balance and in the seamless integration, we could find the humming of ventilator quite rich and it is indeed even somehow entertaining to find many elements of previous monotonicity. .

In fact, there really appears to be many sounds in the humming, because each part of the humming is dirrerent mechanical event or work of ventilator. And each feature of ventiltaion brings its own voice to the the pattern of

Humming brings back some strange memories which I remember somehow from childhood or something. The sound of ventilator and ventilation system makes me feel quite confortable, quite safe also but sometimes slightly lonely. Humming brings back as many memories as many as there appers to be different sounds or voices in the general humming.

I remember when I was kid and in hospital: listened much of those airing systems and humming of ventilators and I didn't let other people's speaking bother myself; I did let myself to slide out of communication because I wanted to stare out of window.

I learned to neglect disinteresting things otherwise bothering and sucking my time to melt in the atmosphere.
