I'm also not a fan of Queen in general, but I do think that Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best rock anthems ever recorded.
I was at a smallish gig in Manchester in the mid 2010s and while the crowd waited for the band to come on, everyone spontaneously started singing the whole of Bohemian Rhapsody, word for word, from start to finish. Including the falsetto "Gallileo"s and the "Dah DAH DAH DA DA DA" really heavy guitar parts near the end, just after or just before the quiet whimsical bit.
I thought it was awesome. They were mostly uni students, and 20 - 30 somethings leading the way, with a few older codgers like me there too.
I love it when younger generations keep picking up the baton of the classics that came out before their time. Just as I've tried to do, and I dare say all other music fans on here too.
It's just what fans of certain things do (whether it's music, books, films, or w/e). If you read your current favourite band were influenced by X Y and Z, then you want to hear them, and all the best albums of all time lists, etc etc...
I think even the band were impressed when they came out. I know that singer from LA enjoyed performing in Manchester, they'd sometimes do a cheeky little Smiths cover. And they waited for the Bohemian Rhapsody sing along to be completed before they came out!
