What are you listening to? Part XXX - Sexxxy tunes for sexxxy folks

Bloody hell, yet another band I'd completely forgotten about. I had the Love Zombies album at one time, but I've not heard them mentioned for years.
Yeah this old punk fella introduced them to me at work. That's their best song I've heard so far, but I haven't heard loads of them. They're pretty different like! Any MS recommendations from back in the day?

Not really mate, I only heard the one album 'Love Zombies'. Might be worth checking that one out?

But if you have a liking for late 70s/early 80s UK Post punk, I highly recommend Magazine:

Nice, thought I recognised the song title. Have you heard the bon iver (I think) original version?
Yeah, the Bon Iver album, For Emma, Forever Ago, which contains that song is a really good album.

Birdy's pretty good too. She was only 14 when she recorded that song, but it's such a beautiful and powerful cover version.

She's recorded several amazing songs. Including this one, which sounded out of this world when I first discovered it on GBL.

Some people are just so talented that they make you sick...

Yeah, with musicians I like though I'm just thankful they exist.

I had a bit of a Birdy fanatasicism going on at one point and was looking up her Wiki page. She has no ordinary background. Her grandfather was a baron. Her mother was a concert pianist. Her great uncle was Dirk Bogarde!

"Birdy learned to play the piano at the age of seven, and began writing her own music at the age of eight.

In 2008, while still a 12-year-old pupil at Durlston Court Preparatory School,[15] Birdy won the UK talent contest Open Mic UK, a spinoff of the Live and Unsigned competition. She won both the under-18s category and the Grand Prize, against 10,000 other competitors.[16][17] She performed her own song, called "So Be Free", at the competition in front of 2,000 people"

An amazing talent. I'm not normally a fan of 'talent contests' especially those along the lines of X factor, but it seems the ones above got it right.
