I don't know why but Neil Young makes me think of Terry Reid. Can't even think of what Led Zeppelin would have been like if Reid had accepted the position Robert Plant got (lead vocals).

I can hear similarities. Reid's voice is a lot more bluesy and has a bit of a rasp, and Neil's an acquired taste, but they both seem to like to play a similar guitar style.

There is some great bbc archive footage of artists during the 70's
Don Mclean's performance of American Pie is the best I've heard ,it's not a song I'd normally listen to but that session is flawless
