What are you listening to? Part XXX - Sexxxy tunes for sexxxy folks

Recently treated myself to a YouTube Premium subscription as the amount of adverts these days just makes it unwatchable. Fuckin money well spent!!

Not only can I now listen to my playlists without interruption, the music quality sounds much better.

Does anyone know if Premium uses higher quality lossless audio files compared to the standard?

Anyway, just chillin' with some Here & Now...

I dont know whether a premium subscription uses a higher quality audio files, I always try and find the 1080 version of any track though, as there's such a huge difference in quality. Most of the time there is such a version available, and this is with no subscription.

Installing and adding uBlock Origin to your browser will block all youtube ads (and all other annoying or potentially harmful pop ups) for no cost. It is sometimes a cat and mouse game and once or twice youtube has caught up with uBlock, and blocks the content unless you turn the adblock off, but 99% of the time, uBlock are ahead, and you get to watch with no ads. I've only had issues for a day or 2, only a couple of times, in perhaps a year or more of use.

The adverts drove me fucking insane before first using a VPN, and when that no longer worked I switched to a VPN plus uBlock origin. I don't think you need to have both though, and just uBlock should work fine.

It'll save you £15 a month or w/e the cost of a subscription is.

Yeh, ad blockers are fine on computers, but can you install them on TVs? Also, the only phone I possess is a work phone that only allows approved applications to be installed, so it's well worth the £12.99 to me for an ad free service across all platforms.

Yeah I dont know if they work across all platforms, but I stream my pc through my TV, once I've decided I'm just going to be viewing for a while, and no longer going to be interacting or typing etc very much.

My TV is quite old and so it's easy to do this. I hear many new 'Smart TVs' come with all sorts of things already installed. Including youtube and BBC iplayer, which is big turn off for me as I don't watch BBC or iplayer and so don't want to not be able to opt out, and avoid paying the licence fee.

There possibly are ways to uninstall these things but it may be a complicated faff. No idea tbh.

Apparently the premium subscription offers "1080P Premium HD enhanced bitrate", according to the streaming options available for selection.

Otherwise you can only select 1080p HD as the highest quality stream available.

Apologies if that is stating the obvious, and what you already know, but obviously what the first option actually equates to in the listening experience is the question. (I've thoroughly butchered the opening of this post, but couldnt think of any better way of opening it, right now :\ )

I would imagine that you'd need something that was originally recorded or uploaded in an enhanced bitrate, as surely not everything will be, especially not, or probably not, recordings by relatively obscure, or cult status bands, such as the likes of Here and Now. Who probably did not have the optimum recording studio in the first place. I'm not knocking the band for this, a lot of the music I like is in the same position. I guess it's like TV and movies from the 1970s or earlier, suddenly claiming to be HD. when such advanced facilties weren't even heard of at the time they were recorded.

I'd be interested to know if you can detect any difference between the enhanced bitrate and the free 1080p HD option in a recording such as the following, which I guess may have been re-mastered or something as the sound quality is already very good, even on the free version of 1080p HD.

Roll a Spliff, make a decent brew & check this out, I have just found this album by him today & I'm in Love with it, this is Robert Pete Williams at his very best & YES that is a single Guitar being played by one man!!!!!!

I should just play this down the phone to a new dealer around here, he texts out at the very least 5-6 times a day at all hours, his one of these young guys who don't understand what the Junkie like me works, I don't need someone ringing & texting me several times a day trying to get a sale, if your crack & dark is good quality it'll sell itself without a huge P.R. / Marketing blitzkrieg.
