There's definitely a similarity. John Frusciante is the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He's got so much crazy stuff way better solo than in a band if you can get past his vocals but he does a ton on instrumentals.

 
This is such a good session.

There's just that special something about Meg White's drumming, even if some criticise it as being "too primitive." I don't know, I think that's why it sounds so good, I don't think drumming needs to be complicated!

It gives me goosebumps all over the way she builds up the layers in the intro to the first track, and then opens up the drums on the cymbals and rocks out.

I think it's because it's such a full and satisfying sound along her with her kick ass attitude and the chemistry between the 2 of them.
