^ Wrote a lot of songs for other artists in that period too. I reckon they must've indulged in a bit of acid at some point.

^Huh, funnily enough I'm currently reading this book:

It's kinda reawakened my love of those bands, and opened my eyes to a lot of shit they had to go through in order to be heard. It's also got me thinking creatively again. :)

Autoclave - I'll Take You Down

I love Autoclave, and probably listen to them on a daily basis. I was also quite surprised to read in the book that they were one of the only all girl groups around in DC just before the riot grrrl scene kicked off.

Really?! :D

I've never met anyone who'd even heard of them, let alone loved them. Christina Billotte is an awesome guitarist. I'm a huge fan of pretty much everything I've heard of hers (Slant 6, Casual Dots, Quix*o*tic etc).

Get the book. I'm not even half way through and I'm loving it. I had this thought in the back of my mind that is was gonna be pretentious and annoying, but it really isn't. It doesn't focus solely on the music scene, but the zines, cassettes which were made within the community, the meetings they had etc. T'is interesting for sure. And it's nice to hear how all these bands I love developed and came together, all supporting each other in the process.

I used to go to a riot grrrl night. They'd let me nod out in the DJ booth and then play some sleaze rock at the end of the night fo me, usually removing my top and hiding it in the process. Good times.

Departing from the girl punk theme slightly: Black Flag - Slip It In

Though Suzi Gardner's on it, plus Kira - officially the coolest woman in the world at that particular moment in time.

Metallica

Currently playing 'Master of Puppets' album by Metallica, absolute classic album.
Can remember listening to this at school on break times. Also have very fond memories of when Bon Jovi 'Slippery when wet' was released and me and my school mates listening to it over and over again until we knew all the words.
Anyone remember the sheer joy of making up yr own compilation tapes to listen to in yr Walkman.Good times indeed
