Roxanne Shante: "Have a Nice Day"http://youtu.be/5QkEHUMmpyM

"You may remember the voice from a few years ago
When I first came out and dissed UTFO
I chilled for a while, I put down my pen
But now some suckas from the Bronx got me started again
Now I'm not out to diss the whole Boogie Down
Just a featherweight crew from that part of town
You made a little record and then you start frontin'
Tried to diss the Juice Crew but ain't hurt nuttin'
Now KRS-ONE you should go on vacation
With that name soundin' like a wack radio station
And as for Scott La Rock, you should be ashamed
When T La Rock said "It's Yours", he didn't mean his name
So step back peasants, poppin' all that junk
Or else BDP will stand for Broken Down Punks
Cos I'm an All-Star just like Julius Erving
And Roxanne Shanti is only good for steady servin"

They don't make em like they did. R.I P Mr Magic<3

My housemate's reporting a crime so there's a copper in my house.

In celebration I'm listening to this here ditty and continuing to smoke some very pungent weed.

I feel like a teenage rebel, albeit a slightly jaded one.

not the best example of genericore (not a recognised subgenre of melodic hardcore), but the lyrics really resonate with me. which poss makes me a tad immature.

The Carrier- Nineteen years young

I'm nineteen years young and my mind is weathered. I'm nineteen years young and things aren't getting any clearer.

...
I can't turn inwards because I can't see because I can't fully understand who I was born to be.

I'm seeing the world in black and white.
As if everyday I live is a memory of another persons life. As if everyday I live is from another's life.

Ok, another week, another Stone Roses reunite story, but looks like it's true this time - press conference called for Tuesday...

So - do you give a shit? Should you ever go back? Were they ever any good live really?

One thing's for sure - they made one (and a half) of the best albums of the 80's and 90's...

I am the resurrection

Begging you

They were 'unreliable' live, Ian Brown often sounding like a novelty doorbell with the batteries running out. Try Reading '96 for example, although that's not the classic line-up obviously.

Squire was overrated as a guitarist but the rhythm section was pretty damn solid. Brown was a shite singer but a good frontman and his vocals admittedly sounded great on record and (very occasionaly) live.

I'm generally opposed to reunions but spent two consecutive blissful summer evenings with My Bloody Valentine in 2008 which made me reconsider slightly. This one? Well, we'll see what happens...

Being a Manc you kind of get the Roses hammered down your throat, so I rarely listen to them now but they were a massive part of growing up for me.

EDIT: I must qualify the above by mentioning that I was too young to actually see them in the flesh, but there's hardly a shortage of live footage out there.
