This was the band that got me into dance music, saw them live in about '90 before Will Sinnott got killed, they had more elecronics on stage than I had ever seen a band have and could only play 5 tracks, one of which was a cover of "slip inside this house" by the 13th Floor Elevators<3

the shamen synergy

Do you like 808 state . I can'yt imagine that you wouldn't .
I remember seeing em by accident , i wish all accidents were that good.
They are up their with Orbital ime n i've seen Orbital loads .

I saw em 3 times in oneday/Night, That was an amzing weekend Carl Cox played when the sun was coming up n their was 1000s of ravers well up after a whole weekend of parting, it was the last set of the Festiva Which was Glastonbury 95.
I saw an interview with Carl Cox years later n he said that it was the best set he ;d ever played. I remember him playing this http://youtu.be/HROMVIHGpLE for about 10 mins bringing it in n out like
Itw as one of the best i've seen cos if u think how many u seen over the years it has to be special 2recall. Alot of it was the the people n Vibe but the DJ brought the best out of it.

Yeah liked 808 and Orbital (think I saw them once or twice) but was so into my parties didnt find much time for "organised" do's, shunned them in the early days a bit in favour of free parties, mwas luck to have Exodus on the door step

Now where getting back to basics, this was the stuff i was listening to back in '91, they opened up a semi legal club in an old hat factory in town TBH I don't think the police knew quite now to close it down.

remember this one from that time as Slipmatt ans Lime did it a live PA - didn't do E then just Acid and speed, me and the trippin crew would be at the back they would put a big white low frequency strobe light on the floor and had a really high frequency one in the ceiling just on all the time. When the white one was on it was strobing in red...lucky no one ever had a seizure=D

SL2 - Way in my brain

and this none also as a live PA guessing well before they cut the released version:-

Gappa G & Hypa Hypa - Information Centre

I's taken E a couple of times before '92 but it was when snowballs landed in the UK it all changed, MDA is probably the only stimulant drug a would really conceder taking these days just to experience it again

Nice link.

At least I'm not the only one who appreciates late-80s/early-90s Chicago house.

moss side, innit

How very fitting for a tune played first at the Hacienda in 1988

I'm from down south, but what must that have been like when that tune dropped, somethings stick in your mind, i remember early '92 at a free warehouse party, stumbling my way to the stack comming up on 2 snowballs. The smoke machine pumped out a cloud of...smoke the strobes were on, permanently (all night) and Egyptian Empire - Horn Track came on.

One of the biggest Epiphanys of my life
