Did you know he also owns one of the biggest model train companies in the world? Or that he designed and built a device for his disabled son to control the trains? Or that he owns about 200 Fender Deluxe amplifiers but ony uses one?
Fascinating man. Obviously on the autistic spectrum. The biography Shakey is probably the best rock bio ever.
cornelius - since i left you. absolute tune.
I was just listening on youtube to one of my mates and also my boyfriends bands who have an album coming out soon, but I don't want to post the link here as their faces are in the video. I think you'd like them Sam, so I'll send you the link in a PM. It's psychedelic rock.
D'you know what? I'm not usually charitable towards contemporary bands (probably because I'm a frustrated 'musician' myself when I have the confidence). My mate's a sound engineer and I usually rip his 'clients' to pieces when I hear them.
But genuinely, that was good! It reminded me a bit of the early nineties vibe (always good) but not in a derivative way, and the whole band sounded like proper 'feel' musicians. I also liked the vocals, which I don't often say (see above for the reason).
In fact I wouldn't mind abducting the rhythm section and forcing them to work with me. :D
Thanks for that. I'll reply properly to the PM when I can type and focus with less strenuous effort.
...steps out with 7 league boots from it's hiding place in the Hindu Kush mountains into the traditionally spaced out environs of the South West of England to deliver a sound wrapped up in suicide riffs, Blues traditionalism, and Sunday morning lyrics, delivered by a band you can tell are still living in that Sunday morning moment.
Produced by the internationally renowned production team 'The Insects', The ********* comes with an assured debut whose music echoes the best of raw rock and roll (MC5, Stooges, The Verve at it's most psychedelic, The Velvets) and with songs that sound like a menacing city whisper on a stoned preachers lips...
With a set of influences belying their years, the ********** have crafted something their own, the sound of young, love blasted England, coming down, walking home.....
