I'm seeing a kinda bastard child of Mark E. Smith and Morrissey, you could have been a contender where did it all go wrong....or right depending on your point of view;)

pfft! not nearly enough cock involved with those two for sam, trust me

think of front men from bands who perform half naked and sing through their penis. add mess, narcissism and an untamed hairdo .. it's a fairly long list if you think about it

Hot Chip - Over and Over

Everyone's selections are great, and weirdly in tune with what I've been thinking.

Mark E. Smith & Morrissey? :D

Marmalade has assassinated my character accurately.

Elastica - Connection

Click the link and prepare to instantly feel old before your time.
Elastica - Waking Up

Not really huge on the whole britpoop thing but liked elastica a bit. really thought Donna was majorly hawt at the time though

her and mikki from Lush [my hair used to be the same colour as mikki's]

Damn...she looks like the dream hipster

I honestly had no idea who Elastica were until very recently. By the time I was old enough to work a radio and actually listen, all I could hear was Spice Girls and Britney Spears...
Like you though I'm not a massive fan of britpop, although I fucking love Pulp.
Even the greatest britpop bands can't hold a candle to many comparatively obscure British bands today.

The Horrors - Still Life, for example =D

hrmn. I'm hearing early simple minds with that. I think simple minds probably did it a bit better tho

Simple Minds - Don't you Forget about me

jarvis cocker is lovely. been listening to his Sunday Service show on BBC6 occasionally and his voice is as soothing as Peel's was.

I try to listen to Mr Riley's show a coupla times a week if i remember to. Great for finding new bands and tunes. I trust his taste loads and I've been in love with him for decades. he's a big cardiacs fan. so he's obviously smart

I was always a Justine man but Donna had her own brand of hot.

Go-Kart Mozart - Donna & The Dopefiends

True story. Forgive the horrible live version.

I just looked that up. I remember Denim. I don't know why tho. possibly bcos they supported Pulp. can't recall tracks or sound though

[eh, and if anyone thinks of posting Suede tracks right now, post Bowie instead pls ;p]

also, parcel ommission number 3 was an archive of all Peel's Radio 1 shows and every session by every band that ever did one for him [well, 90% of them anyway]. Downloaded them from soulseek 2 years ago. I can confirm that zopiclone doesn't nearly put me into a lovely sleep buzz like listening to old Peel shows does ... and drifting off to him introducing Extreme Terror Corps or whatever his this weeks latest obsession was.

will send you the archive eventually <3

Patti Smith - Gloria

I seem to have amassed pretty much everything the pistols ever recorded, this is an interesting listen no lyrics an the original 1976 line up:-

Sex Pistols - No Feelings (Instrumental)

Just goes to show that its often the tension in a band that really makes the best sounds, Matlock could write music but was a bit of a girls blouse, Lydon on the other hand was working to different rules hence the split. Short lived though they were for the amount of material actually released they had more influence than any other band in history IMO
