Yer right Shammy - 30 years they'd been together.... But....
they split oop just before xmas :( [when thurston n kim announced they were divorcing]

luckily I got to see em in manc last xmas/new years

also got so see Mark Ibold with Pavement last year too

lee ranaldo n kim both have solo dates planned this year in the uk tho
WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?!?!?!?! {0.o}

I knew Kim and Thurston had seperated, but I didn't know that it would be the end of Sonic Youth.... :(
That's really sad... They've been through so much, accomplished even more, inspired millions, brought aural joy to even more millions.....
I suppose a divorce within a band would not be an easy thing.
Still, shock shock shock man!
Seeing them in Manchester @ The Academy in 2002 was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. And to see Coco standing to the right-hand-side of the stage, behind the speakers and the drums... It was such a special little moment to see a part of their lives outside music...

Boooo :( That's made me right sad...

But it's really good to know that they'll never leave the art scene. I don't think Glen Branca would let Thurston and Lee escape his grasp!
And Kim's still doing exhibitions and curating them.

Ah man, I was so gutted when I heard they'd split up. It was just when Thurston released his latest (and possibly his best) solo material, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wllPXb4lkI this song is stunning, the lyrics made me bubble like a little girl I felt like my parents where getting divorced or something haha.

I'm so pleased I got to see them in 2010 in London, they played a 2 hour set most of it stuff off Daydream Nation, Goo, EVOL, sister, dirty...all their best albums. Long Live S.Y!!!!!!!<3<3<3<3

Paul Weller - Brand New Start

anyone who hast had a listen to Paul Wellers "days Of Speed" album should give it a go, its one of my in car favs at the moment, he takes allot of old tunes and strips them right back to largely just him and a acoustic, even if your not a Weller fan you might be surprised by what he does with some of his most well know material.
