What are you listening to: And I will likely not listen to your music again.

Danzig - Her Black Wings

Not nearly enough Satan in this thread I'm afraid.

And a major reason behind the fact I'm single (leaving alongside the fecklessness, the drinking and the personality disorder) is that try as I might, I've yet to meet a woman with an authentic pair of black wings.

Mind you as soon as a single was banned from the Radio it was like a overnight endorsemenent so it worked both ways .

Naturally.

N common mate i'd say things are pretty fukin backwards these days have you listened to the radio lately ?

I never said we live in 2012 heaven. Merely pointing out that small improvements occasionally happen. I'm from the era of Mary Whitehouse and I celebrate her death. (Even if she isn't/might not be).

The era your posting tracks from this morn was dark time but loads of good music was about

Good music was about because it was dark.

Now its just grey.

But I'll give you one little stat I heard recently which sums up for me how shite and 'backward' today is. And grey.

Now, we've always had public school boys in bands but...

In the 1990's, the number of artists in (can't remember, one or t'other) either the top 10 or top 30 who attended public school was 10%.

Today, that figure is 60%.

And it shows.

That makes sense .

All the poor/woorking class lads with any talent can't start a band these days it requires lots of equipment and space .

Back in the day lads could sign on n make music these days said lads are all on some daft unpaid DWP stoopid course.

The lads that do make it are usully making electronic music as this can be done from the bedroom .
Gone are the days of unemployed lads jamming with real instruments.

Where as the wealthier have the £ to buy equipment n space that their parents will have given em .

Theirs enough in this to write a bloody good piece if you could get stats n what not.

Theirs the basic outline for you though

I agree Brimz - I spend a lot of time around the 'Manchester music scene'.

A recurring theme of which is that none of the performers are from Manchester but either stayed here after attending one of the universities or moved here because it was a smaller pond than London in which they could instantly become fairly big fish. Which is fair enough I suppose, but to call themselves 'Manchester bands' is a bit of a con.

Admittedly a lot of the actual local bands that do surface are the same tired old Roses-rehash type affairs, but the entire scene is so bourgeois that it puts a lot of creative people from working class backgrounds off.

Everything i said i'm sure could be amplified put in to a nice coherent NME piece.

True thing though Lads can't afford the stuff n what with all the Electronic stuff n superfukwit DJs combine that with 2days any cunt can be famous 4 doing nothing n look what your left with......................
