What Are You Drinking? V2. Frosty Jacks - For The Discerning Pisshead

I'm not even gonna bore you with my tipple of choice. Suffice to say, it's clear and poisonous.

I came to the conclusion earlier, that the reason I drink vodka is because I miss methadone. I don't miss heroin, but methadone was my perfect drug. It just became too problematic to obtain.

Whereas I can get a bottle of vodka in every shop in town, sometimes even 24 hours a day.

This is where the drug laws are so fucked up...

I dunno how things work on your side of the pond, but over here if you present with a few dirty urines they'll give you a daily dose of the green handcuffs. The only caveat is for the first couple of weeks you gotta drink it in front of them. After a month or so they'll allow you to take it home, provided you consistently clean urines.

Would you consider going on a script Fubz? Maybe it'll help you with the booze and be cheaper and healthier in the long run. I know daily pick ups are a faff at first but after a few clean months you'll get on weekly.
You wouldn't even have to use gear to fail the tests, as it's pod season innit. Just make sure you've had some a day or two before the test. Then you can hopefully cut down on the booze.
Are you drinking all day (sorry if that's a bit personal) cos that's definitely not a sustainable thing, especially after your recent heart surgery.
It's a shame they don't dish out dhc and it's expensive on the internet as that's another great drug for maintenance.

Nah, I wouldn't consider getting scripted again mate.

Mainly because my sister in law works at the local drug and alcohol service, which makes things a little awkward to say the least. In one respect that's a good thing because it gave me a massive incentive to get off the methadone. On the other hand, it means I can never go back.

I've been drinking all day all this week because I'm on annual leave, so that's my excuse 😀 (not that I need one), but generally, I'm drinking less than I was, but rather than constant drinking, I tend to binge drink now, which I believe is actually more problematic.


The thing is that I don't really like alcohol that much. I also don't suffer significant withdrawals from it, but it's just another compulsive behaviour I'm trying to get to grips with.

I'm also trying to stop smoking atm. I've bought a decent vape which has helped me to significantly reduce my tobacco consumption.

It seems like I've spent half my life getting addicted to everything, and am spending the remainder trying to get clean.


The thing is, I don't want to be clean...

Yeh, it's pretty much like that over here I think, though things have changed since I was scripted so I'm not sure how it works anymore. 20 years ago it was all about maintaining your habit. They would pretty much prescribe however much you wanted for however long you wanted. These days, due to cuts in funding, they're more focused on getting you off a script so they can chalk it up as a 'success'.

Unfortunately, cunts like me have just taken our business to the alcohol vendors instead.

Keeps the drug stats looking good and keeps the brewers rich. Fuckin win, win?

Worse - they get money for the number of 'clients' on their books new or returning. So 99% of the people I see going to the local drug service are people who struggled to manage on 30mg/day of juice, cracked and got back onto the brown and then get back on juice when desperate.

Also, what happened to them using DHC? It used to be standard that when someone got down to 10ml/day they were swapped to DHC which is much easier to taper. Oh yes - methadone is cheaper. The fact that the prescription costs and all the other paperwork is what costs 95% of either option... but to save pennies a day they dropped the DHC.

It's become a career path. Nobody at a drug service wants people to lose customers. No, they want to park people on 30ml juice/day and see them every 3 months,

And don't get me started on how ignorant they are about buprenorphine. 4mg was enough for me but no - they insisted that everyone goes up to 16mg. It caused severe anxiety for me so I just got a pill-cutter and took what I needed. For a week. After that I just stopped. I had only been using codeine but 16mg/day and no deviation.
 
"La Goudale" a French Blonde hoppy beer. Not bad for 4.50euro for a 6 pack. 7.2%abv. I'm just having 2 though as I just took 20mg valium and am puffing away on some CBD. Fucking French classes today doing my head in. So just kicking back and trying to ease off that stress.

Someone advised me to try using activated charcoal on cheap vodka. Water filters will do it but I had 2 x250g bags of Sigma AC. I was very skeptical but I was wrong.

I actually ran a GC-MS on the vodka before and after and while the before had about 7 fragments... the after had just two. Ethanol and water.

It's hardly a cheap option and of course you are going to lose a little bit of material but yes, the traces of fusel alcohols were gone. It was just 40% ethanol and 60% water.

I’ve heard of using activated charcoal and the other methods of using a water filter to clean it up but haven’t tried it! You think it would be worth the time/money to try it? I have a crippling alcoholic addiction and have to get a good deal of cheap vodka to keep myself together but i’d love to be able to drink without having to drown myself in chaser.
btw the vodka I get it FRÏS, it’s produced in my area so it’s pretty damn cheap
