Apparently, the Catholic Church used to regard them as fish, rather than birds, because of their ability to swim in the sea. This meant that people could eat them during Lent.

In my maternal grandparents' house, the fish on Friday thing went on all year. Mayo folk. Headbanging Papists. I hated fish too.

havent had this much alcohol since university. 3 nights in a row? wth am i thinking

Fullers ESB.

Trying to stick to 2 nights a week these days but today makes 3 this week. Lost a shit load of weight since cutting down. I was 24/7 kinda guy.

Anywhere outside of Irish cities over here is like the league of gentlemen ffs.

Travel 20 mile outta any city in Ireland north or south and its like stepping into a different country. Most can't even understand you. Country folk are a strange bunch. No offence to any country folk from out fair isle on here;)

My Da used to say the same. He'd take the piss out of the farmers from Kerry coming to the city on market days. Always in brown suits. Nobody in Cork wore a brown suit.

Then again, he got sent to a a Gaeltacht as a kid and loved it.

Wee sister went to Irish language primary and secondary. Done the whole Gaeltacht thing. So did my other sisters kids. Fuckin hated it at the time. Couldn't get there head around why they had to speak Irish when there friends didn't.

Good education all the same. Getting an A level in Irish at 15 isn't too bad!?

Sory for taking the booze thread wayyyyyyyyyy off topic
;)

Got it. I didn´t mean to be intrusive I had misunderstood then..
Warm welcome!
Lots of good folks in here:)

No worries mate. I'm shit faced as it is. Just eat a load of codeine as I'd ran out of beer. Which I had something more recreational but them's the breaks I suppose.
