^ Those mahoosive bags of bacon crisps from Aldi/Lidl are the bizniz for drinking. I tend to stick to Co-Op ones as it's the only real shop here but they're way too salty - much prefer Aldi ones. Am a big Aldi/Lidl fan me. Some very fine products at sillycheap prices. And some weird shit. And some out and out shit. Great shop <3

But too far away to be practical so Co-Op generic "Strongbow" for me tonight. May not have the kick of Frosty's but blimey I learned my lesson t'other night. Cheap + Strong ≠ Pleasant :|
 
Oof yeah, Frosty's hangovers are the worstest.

I'm drinking white tea with lemon. Might actually go make a proper pot of tea soon, for the first time in ages. Oooh exciting =D
 
Mint Green Tea, got brought over from Morocco and last tried it a few months ago. It's quite nice, but once this box is done I don't see myself buying any more. Be easy to do if you had your own mint though.

Gonah get on this K Cider on the weekend definitely if I can find it.

Me: Cos it's dirt cheap and stronger than any other beer or cider you have here.
Manager: Fuck off and die.

Perhaps a tad cynical but there's no chance in a lil weeny place like this. Strong drink is heavily disapproved off. Co-Op stopped selling strong white cider completely for a while and now only sells small bottles at high prices. As soon as Weston's 8.4% stuff became noted by folk they stopped putting it on offer and upped the price too. Annoying cos I liked that :\

Hohum. Just finishing the last of me generic mid-strength cider from last night. Ain't bad for £4/3l, Plus I only drank half last night cos it's a bit bloaty to go swigging at easily.

Today's my official allowed booze day and I picked an Aldi special at £3.49 Brasserie 4.8% lagers got 10 of them 8o

Taste nice, wine's been hurting my tummy, hope few of these lil guys will be ok on it.

Am drinking nowt but considering heading out into the freezing cold to see if I can grub up some booze to warm me up a bit. Medicinal innit.
 
Foraging near disaster come a good 'un. They had no half-bottles of cheap gin left so had to consider the other cheap half options - namely voddy or white rum. Both cost a quid more than the gin for some reason. Wasn't fancying 'em but just as despair was gaining ground I spied a saviour: half-bottle of scotch for only 50p more than the gin. Plus it's proper 40% stuff so worth the extra 50p. Got meself 2l of ginger beer for 35p to go with it too :)
 
some of my home brew IPA, came out at 6.5%. made a cider 2 weeks ago from apple juice, raisins, tea bags and yeast. it will take about 3 months in total and should be around 12%.

next up is a stout and a wheat beer.
 
Nice, Bogman. I used to make a beast of a homebrew stout. Easily 10% - probably a tad over but can't recall offhand. Double or triple sugar for abv uberwin. Sometimes need to add the sugar in stages so you don't kill the yeast or make it end up tasting sweet. Mine always tasted exactly like Old Peculiar only double the strength =D

Fancied getting back into homebrewing for ages now. Bit of an investment to get the ball rolling though. No more than a coupla weeks' booze money really though to be fair...
 
ye need to invest a few bob at the start but if you make a few brews it pays for itself, atm my brews cost me just under 50cent a pint.

a few lads i know do the all grain and they knock out a brew that works out around 25cent a pint.

love the old peculiar, one of my favourites. need to try and make a copy of it.
 
My "recipe" for a stout that was near indestibguishable from Old Peculiar was just a bogstandard stout homebrew syup can (dunno the brand but was the only one Boots sold) and add 2-3x the amount of sugar it recommends (perhaps in stages as mentioned cos too much sugar straight off can shock the yeast into dying before they do their job properly). Worked perfect every time and was never short of delicious. And headmashingly potent to boot =D

Is definitely an investment that pays for it self very quickly. The local petshop sells homebrew kit so been meaning to get back on it at some point. Very economical, very satisfying and kinda addictive too once you get going. Used to use any failed brews for distilling sillystrong spirit too which was a bonus. Not got owt to use as a still at the moment though. Have got a pressure cooker that would probably do the job at a pinch but could only make teeny quantities in that. Used to use an old boiler. Could make fuckloads of insanely strong moonshine with that =D
