What Are You Drinking? Four of your 'finest' purple tins, s'il vous plait

yeah my local stocks those too, along with okocim, although really going off that stuff, nasty after taste, saying that im actually looking forward to cranking open my last stella when i get home,

Erm... I love Okocim! It's like Special Brew but just toned down a notch. Not to mention better tasting, for those of you who've yet to join the Brew Crew.

Incidentally, who's on the EADD Brew Crew? I know Brimz likes it but does anybody else want to speak up? :)

Lol i remember drinking that shite! cant stand it, along with kestrel super, bavaria 8.6 and many other disgusting tasting brews! it does get you pissed though if you can get it down ya!

Man up, eh? ;)

Seriously, I forget what pissheads did before the Poles brought their lager across. It's still weak enough that you can have a couple for breakfast but it's strong enough to just about hit the spot in the evening too. Not that a beer breakfast is something we should necessarily aspire to, but hey.

lol i dont drink to get wasted though, i like the taste too, im not 13 anymore and not necking cheap strong cider lol, but thats my pref innit! i was seriously tempted for a beer breakfast today but decided against it, there already a few alcoholics at my work, dont want to be added to that list!

Ah, you've just got to know where to draw the line between alcoholism and heavy drinking...

Actually you're right. That's the best and healthiest attitude to have in the long run.

not so much these days maybe a can a week if that.

Still actually like it as a drink , just the hangovers from any drinking do me in so hard these days.

I decided the chenin blanc was the mostly likely variety of white wine in lidl to be least offensive to the pallet last night, was pretty successful. Also, got s used to drinking cider now that the stellas on offer last night tasted pretty foul, meh.

yeah that stella cider is shite , it tastes well it doesn't actually filth ! Band wagon jumping cos cider is popular atm.

Thatchers or Stowford all the way , i'm sure you must have had one of the two in Bristol wibz ?

Still can't really get with cider apart from in snakebite occasionally.

I think a lot of it comes from being 16 and having to do the offy run for my dad and his mates. Flagons of Inch's Export all around and then they'd break out the Josef Locke, have a row and be friends again by the following day. We won't see their like again. Shame.

Stella cider is just like strongbow or some other mass produced wank.

Shame cos the French are very good at ciders.

I've got a couple of bottles of Spitfire this evening.

its not hard to drink Thatchers it tastes like strong apple juice , i love it ,

in some pubs in Bath we used to have cider houses where you could get pissed right up cheaply on Scrumpy that was brewed down the road , honestly.

These places which were unique n had loads of character n plenty of LOCAL trade have gone since the smoking ban , which has slowy well more slowlly , not sure how many pubs are going under every week atm.:X

Local pubs aren't like they ere , still got a proper one really close £2.80 a pint at happy hour which is at a 14/16HRS says what the locals are like ;)proper job as we say.

lol, no, you're right :D

yeah, I bet there are some proper good ciders in Belgium too :)

Stella Cidre is to cider as Carling is to beer.

We're lucky in Manchester to still have Joey Holt's. A proper local, family owned brewery that produces bitter and mild and has tied houses all over the city. All of them proper old men's pubs.

The cider houses sound like an experience though. It's a shame so much money ends up in the hands of pub companies and Inbev these days.

^ fucking inbev, i swear when i see that on a can i can predict the mass produced pissy taste before i open it! would even buy the french stubbies from tesco nowadays over inbevs offerings

So in your area i'm talkin staggering distance thats a mile tops , how many pubs are their Sam ? I'm intrested ,

I'm on the outskirts of the city n there are about 6 dif ones i could go , alll different ,

if i want violence i go to the FullMoon where the police got whipped by the locals recently
or i could go to the river to the Dolphin which is a kid freindly pub with a garden , Weston is along the rd near to my local n i'm not poisting that.

But u get the jist , Sam we got alot of Pubs in Bath for its size we got about 3 locals per area easy .

Damn straight. They've almost ruined Hoegaarden and they've destroyed a lot of British brewing tradition too.

I can still drink some stuff under the Inbev umbrella but it's mainly the stuff that they outsource to small breweries. Mackeson's stout is still lovely as a breakfast pick-me-up but I'm terrified they'll take it off the market at some point.

There's quite a few trendy(ish) bars where I live but the nearest pub (well, second nearest) is a lovely Sam Smith's house where all the students are scared to go. ;)

The other pub at the end of my road is a lovely building but they're clueless about how to keep the beer. A lot of places are like that now - signs screaming out 'REAL ALE' but you taste it and it's vinegar. Doesn't stop idiots drinking it though.
