Social What are you currently reading?

Right now I'm reading book two of Ray Monks Biography of Bertrand Russell, enjoying it immensely. Also on the go are The Autobiography of John Stuart Mill, Bertrand Russell's History of Western Philosophy, Fire and Ashes by Michael Ignatieff, and am completely knocked over by Karl Ove Knausgaard's Boyhood Island, it more than lives up to its reputation as a modern day Proust.

Also, slightly off topic, but if I could recommend a book that relates to Heroin, everyone should have Edward St Aubyn's Patrick Melrose series right up there with their William S Burroughs, Hunter S Thomson and Irvine Welsh (in my opinion he surpasses them all)

I just finished with Hesse's Steppenwolf - loved it, particularly The Treatsie of the Steppenwolf chapter. Hesse's prose is beautiful and easy to read.

Currently half way through Kafka's The Trial; my first Kafka novel. His style is awesome, so dreamy and surreal but even more eloquently written and quirky and the plot and the characters are bizzare yet relatable.

lol.. last thing i read was the description to the new Godzilla movie.
Ordered it early this morning, watched it.. fuckin epic.
I've always been a Godzilla dork.. i remember being like 8 years old and watching the really old ones dubbed over in English.
Imma geek.

The Tale of the Dueling Neurosurgeons: The History of the Human Brain as Revealed by True Stories of Trauma, Madness, and Recovery

Sam Kean

My rating: 2.8/5

Music for Chameleons by Truman Capote...

The first book that has genuinely interested me in a long time.
Makes me want to write again.

I have so many books to read it sickens me I have not picked one up in quite some time. Work has been draining in the last few years and just life in general. I was raised on books and reading used to be one of my favorite hobbies and ways of escaping reality. I am making a personal goal for myself this week to start a new book. It's time to stop staring at these screens and pick up a book.

I watched Sleepers last night and there is an important reference to that novel in the movie. I will have to check that one out!

Trust me when I say that you should read it

pick up a copy (or better yet; like myself, download a FREE copy of the English translation of the original) and read it

you can trust me because I've read the entire novel as a child many years ago, and it was phenomenal

I hope you enjoy it. It's a classic.

Aldous Huxley's A Brave New World...

Fuck me, it also came with a pair of 3D glasses for the cover! An absolute bargain at $14.99 from the airport. The story itself is quite dated but still amusing and relevant...
