I am not sure where to put this but i am continuing to hear about these 'bath salts', or mephidrone, etc. What are the side effects of this designer drug and really any knowledge you may have about it id love to hear it! Thanks

Yeah? Some kid i ran into last night said it just got him all fucked up like amphetamines and theres the smoke shop rigbt next to my home.

"Bath salts" are predominantly cathinone stimulants similar to amphetamines. They have the same risks and rewards as amphetamines except since they are sold as "bath salts" and not actual psychostimulants it is impossible to how much and what exactly you are taking!

Mephedrone was banned in many jurisdictions so it's unlikely the "salts" contain that anymore. Instead they may be any of the following: 4-ethylmethcathinone, 4-methylethcathinone, 4-ethylethcathinone, 4-methylbuphedrone, 4-ethylbuphedrone, MDPV, pentylone, pentedrone, butylone, keto-MDMA, keto-MDEA, methiopropamine, pseudoephedrine, etc. plus cuts such as caffeine, lactose, salt, talcum powder, titania/magnesia, etc. or any other numbers of unlabeled and poorly researched compounds.

The effects of the family are pretty general stimulant ones - high blood pressure, euphoria, stimulation, restlessness, wakefulness, psychosis, vasoconstriction, etc. Look on Erowid for more information.

In short: these are a last-resort substance and should be treated with extreme caution. They will produce psychological dependence and even psychosis if misused. Stick to caffeine pills or street amphetamines if you want a guaranteed experience...

In many cases, given the user's naivety and the availability of bath salts, they can become extremely addictive. I found MDPV, which was supposedly in many of the bath salts in an area I was in last summer, EXTREMEly addictive. Horrible experiences with them all around, and yet I still found myself compulsively using them all summer.

I rigorously second sekio - stay the fuck away

It'll save you so much time and trouble. I'd rather just take some shitty meth (as in low quality) than bath salts any day, and this is coming from someone who generally hates stims, especially meth. furthermore, I'd take crack (my least favorite drug) over bath salts. any time, any day.

then again, I figure, why even bother. so many other wonderful ways to spend you time, all productivity aside

If you want to experience "bath salts", try finding the pure chemical rather than branded and bagged knockoffs sold in head-shops.

And get a good milligram scale, too. Some compounds are active at a single milligram dose.

Just the thought of taking mdpv makes me gag... but then again, everyone's different...

The point here is really that one just doesn't know what one's taking, let alone how much. This leads to extremely dangerous experimentation. As Sekio states, one is much, MUCH better off just ordering the chemical (not to mention, it's way cheaper in bulk).

One must also keep in mind that research chems like MDPV are still relatively unknown, and we know so little about short term, let alone long term, side effects. Not saying RC's are absolutely dangerous, but it can be quite risky business playing around with them (RE: that bromo-dragonfly thing a couple years ago, as well as other incidents I'm no doubt unaware of). The thing about bath salts is that they maximize the dangers already inherent to experimenting with RCs.

All it took is one news story about a psychotic teenager who climbed backwards into a drainpipe and got stuck while wired to the gills on MDPV before I decided it wasn't for me.

Also the innumerable reports of compulsive redosing until the 'shadow people' tell you to barricade yourself in your house because the cops are beseiging you.

Hah.. This drug seems pretty fucked up. Ive read alot on it and many stories conclude that you go insane. Can you blame me for intially wanting to try this legal stimulant found in a store near me for a fraction of the cost of real amphetamines etc. I dont think i will do them but i am very curious even tho my drugs of choice are opiates.

I recently watched an Intervention with a guy that was snorting bath salts. While he was in treatment they determined he was schizophrenic but weren't sure if it was from the bath salts or a previous condition. I've put some stupid shit in my body but I always got educated on what was going in and what it would do to me. I wouldn't touch this shit. There is little to no scientific evidence of what exactly long term use of these things does to your body. Just stay away...The guy on intervention looked fucking insane.

Remember that these drugs are just recently made chemicals that have only been tested on humans once they started selling them as a cheap legal option to get high. I trust street drugs far more than any of the legal highs. I havent touched them since they made mcat illegal. Too risky for my tastes!

Yeah 'bath salts' were making the rounds down in Britain for madog11 and I a couple of years ago...Only they weren't advertised as bath salts, but plant fertilizer. Amounted to the same thing though: Methylone, Butylone, MDPV and mephedrone branded up in baggies available to buy online. Kids of 12 to 22 year old students were all bashing huge quantities of mephedrone (myself included). The others, including MDPV, remained largely obscure because it was mephedrone that garnered all the media buzz, it was mephedrone that the kids were railing half-gram lines of every weekend, and mephedrone that ultimately lead to the cathinones getting banned in Britain. Thank god nobody realised MDPV was so fucking good/terrible...

Ha yeah i remember that i am now convinced that the note on the packets of plant fertilizer 'not for human consumption' is actually some useful advice!

Remember BZP? Good stuff if you had something against sleep.

I saw on tv that most of the stuff is made in China in labs that looked like rented out warehouses, so definitely not sanitary conditions for a chemistry lab. Also there was an episode on Intervention of some dude in AZ addicted to bath salts and he had done so much of the shit that it made him pyschotic, he was hearing voices and seeing "shadow people," so to anyone thinking about trying them, i wouldn't. Research chemicals were invented by a dude in New Zealand for the purpose of trying to invent a drug that was fun to use, and safe to use. Then the market ended up getting flooded by idiots copying this dude's chemicals or making their own tweeks and completely over saturated the market with garbage that really shouldn't be consumed by people. Anyway the shit isn't safe to mess around with, plus none of them have been around long enough for people to study, so no one knows their long term effects. Stay away people, stay away.

For people like me that cannot get their hands on any stimulant without risking serious consequences such as being mugged, murdered, or imprisoned trying to cop something, RC's are great for me. I can't get my hands on any good scripts either, so RC stims like 4FA are a blessing to me, although I am afraid o MOST RC's, I just have some trust with amphetamines. MDPV and cathinones make me nervous. I realize I may be reckless but it still beats trying to cop methamphetamine for me. (Or doctor shop, now that gets expensive without insurance)

The biggest fear I have is that some of these drugs may cause serious problems way down the road, like that one chemist who synthesized a morphine like opioid that caused instant parkinson's symptoms with one use. So my biggest concern is permanent brain and/or heart damage. If you can get real drugs, screw RC's, but it's worth it for me (at least that is how i feel now). Japan has like no street drugs, it upsets me.

Thats my thoughts on it too.
