What are the elements of a good rave BESIDES the P.L.U.R. ?

so far I figure its top DJs, people with costumes, visual shows, a decent sound system and, of course, a supply of clean drinking water.

INPUT?

Prob none of those things.

Ok, maybe a decent sound system. I get bummed when the PA is too small or is shite (bass cranked too high, etc.).

My idea of a good rave is basically the people you know in the EDM community showing up and giving some respect. Coming closer to a purist rave, it would be invite only. DJs don't really matter because you know them anyways. The visual aspect is nice, but its largely fluff (clubs blows this out of the water anyways so why compete?).

Location. Location. Location ;)

No faux gangsters? (thus the invite only, and limit the sketch factor).

I think maintaining that old skool vibe is important. Clubs are terrible for this.

I dont think costumes have anything to do with a good "rave". are you talking about massives, like Ultra, Wemf, Starscape to name a few? or a Jump off at a club, or an outlaw with no permits, or even a weekly?

a party as I call them need

A good SOUND SYSTEM..shitty sound forget it.
a good vibe, hard to find ;)
good djs, they dont have to be famous, locals often play the same tracks as headliners but the music needs to be on point.
Friends, I love going out with my friends and meeting up with other friends fromt the scene

honestly i know this sounds terrible, but the best parties ive been to have at least one OD. Well not all but most....

Also it depends on what you want to get out of the party experience. I go for the music so to me sound is very important, followed by line up, followed by friends, then the venue, everything else is secondary

a bad venue can fuck a perfectly good party up.

wikid rave:

no security, no bouncers. they piss me the hell off.
especially the security u get in legal raves who walk around the dancefloor with torches to see if your taking drugs.

very decent soundsystem, 30K turbosound or similar.

underground tunes, none of the commerical/mainstream shite.

very friendly-friendly crowd.

decent lighting with a powerful laser.

cheap drinks, free water.

free or very cheap entry.

so free parties, over legal raves anyday.

I think a bit of security on the door is good, particularly in the city so you get less thieving non-fluffy types in who make you feel scared, and also to check people don't bring weapons. Of course in an ideal world this would not be necessary, or at truly private countryside parties.

Obviously a good soundsystem is essential.. ability to bring your own drinks is nice in addition to running water and a cheap bar, balloons available at a decent price would be nice, good lasers and visuals, really nice decor, some nice comfy places to sit, wicked djs who mix it up a bit so the usic isn't *too* repetitive, a 2nd room with something a bit different (eg. breaks or d&b room at a mainly psy night). Also good people, good vibes and decent 'party favours' all add to the experience!

1. Good line-up.
2. Great djs.
3. Awesome audiosystem with good power and freqency range.
4. Friendly security that allow you to bring your own drinks and pipes.
5. No fucking bouncers that non-stop search the club for drugs and fucked up people.
6. Non-agresive people.No thieves,no fighters...
7. Place where you can sit & chill.
8. No ridiculously overpriced drinks.
9. No overcrowded dancefloor.
10. Great lights & lasers.
11. Bathrooms that dont look like from some horror movie.
