What age do you think you will die?

I never thought I'd be having so much (more) fun in my 40's when I was 20-odd.

I used to look at 40 yearolds, and assume they were all lame, sheltered, conservative twats, and yes, in my early 20's I couldn't see any reason why I'd want to go on past 40. Even those people in their 40's who claimed life was even better, sex was even better, claimed to be having a good time, I asssumed they were deluded and didn't really know anything.

I know who I am and what makes me tick, but again, I thought that in me 20's, so I've probably still got a lot more to learn about meself.

All you people thinking you "want" to die before 35-40....really, you'd be missing out bigtime, trust me.

I dunno how clearly this comes across, I'm a bit fuddled.

Hope so.

But really, it's a totally individual thing isn't it? Someone one might get to 40 and be diagnosed with cancer or have theit partner die/leave them. All pretty circumstantial.

Still, nice to hear you're having a good time, really.=D
 
Exactly, you're right, it's a personal thing, I have a lot of old friends who ARE tedious old fuckers...

and on the health front me 30's, particularly mid-late 30's,were pretty shit, but I'm glad I didn't die! Getting to 40 became even more wicked for me cos it coiincided with receiving better hips than I had even as a child....and that did wonders for me confidence and outlook....

And i only work 3 days a week now.

Life has been one long snoo for some time now :D
 
50/50 - either ive got he genetic timebomb from my mother and ill end it once i start showing symptoms (early 50s), or ill prolly live to 70+

shame im far too scared to find out one way or the other >_>
 
Whilst, like I said I've never seen much past 60 I'm 40 now and only just starting to get to really understand who and what I am. Yeah I've got alsorts of shit to deal with at the moment (hopefully will start on CBT in the next 6 weeks) but I'm getting a much more detailed knowledge of me and how I fit in my world.
At the moment I do have issues with depression and anxiety but at last I'm beginning to grow into someone who can start to live ....really live and experience the world or at least my world as I have no idea what the rest of you are experiancing.....sorry I've had a lot of counseling sessions of late=D

I didn't mean it like that, though it obviously came over that way. I meant more as an extension of the points I've made before; that when you are young - say in your teens - then living till mid 30's is an age away, and easily dismissed. As I said before, it was for me. But then as you approach that age, the goalposts find a good reason to shift.

I certainly didn't mean that people that age are incapable of rational thought or anything.... Well, I suppose that's another topic =D

Anyway, Donnie may come back and say he is 30! Either way, I still found his outlook a little upsetting.
 
I like how this thread has turned out. I have to agree with PT, when he says he believes there's nothing after death, so just get on with it, and enjoy it. I'd never tie myself to a religion, either. Nice to see the older members actually seem happier than most of the younger ones. Good thread.
 
oh yeah on the death is the fuckin end..

I think all religion, all manifestations of God, reincarnation were based on beliefs held before we actually had anyscientific knowledge, before we used established rules of Physics to explain the world, the solar system, the Universe.

it was just easier to say it was God what done it.

Death is death so get on with your life and have a fucking blinder, beware false prophets, do no harm to others.....
 
Most of us don't live our lives to the full but we really should because any of us could be dead tomorrow. :\
 
When people say "live life to the full" I often can't help thinking, yeah but what does that actually mean? Does it mean follow your dreams, become self actualised, love like you've never been hurt (urgh) etc etc..

It might just mean accepting that the now is all you have and that at every moment "THIS IS IT". So, if I can sit and accept and feel good with the moment I could quite likely be "living life to the full" by just staring out of a window - tis in fact one of my favourite past times.

Yeah, It means whatever you want it to mean I suppose. Doing whatever makes you happy has to rank as a pretty good pass time - as long as it doesn't hurt others I guess. Personally, I love sitting listening to the wind, or walking in a snow storm, or staring at a rough sea. It's hardly bungee jumping, but it floats my boat :)
 
This might sound a bit i dunno,
but i firmly belive that i will die when my time is up , as will the rest of us its just how things happen .
You could be fit as a fiddle n have a Heart attack or you coluld be a 20fag a day heavy drinker , it's definatley 50% luck at least.
I'm sure leading a healthy lifestyle can add years , and a unhealthy one take em off ,

Personally i think Obestity and diadeties due to folk havin bad diets is one of the main causes of folk dying young , as much as Drugs n the like , excluding Alcholol which will really fuk u up worse than anything else if abused bar say Crack n Crystal meth
 
these are some of the things ive considered might happen when we die:

1 - nothing at all, eternal nothing.
2 - something absolutely amazing that we just cant imagine like being everywhere in the universe at once i dunno.
3 - we live our same lives over and over for eternity.
4 - we live the life of consious being who ever lived over and over for eternity.
 
I always like to think about where we were before we were born. A lot of people seem to feel the need for some kind of afterlife or continuation, but they are perfectly happy that for 15 billion years, they were ok with being nothing. Even if there was something 'before', then it would follow that if there was an 'after', we would not be aware of it.
 
Yup, i reckon when i'm gone i'm gone. I'll live on in every person i know that'l get trashed in my name and at my funeral though. Couldnt guess an age. could be tomorrow, could be 50 with the way i am at the minute. Doubt my heart will last much longer than that though, still, had a hell of a life.
 
it would be nice if something cool happened when we die but i also suspect it will be a big nothing. that would be cool actually at least there will be no stress.
