What age do you think you will die?

Nice one on the Nine inch Nails example. Have to say didn't cross my mind at the time but that takes care if the whole cock rock to industrial metal link.

Yeah, Dizzee Rascal, what happened? Mercury music prize at 16 and then just slid into pure complacency. Not sure what's worse, the slow silent decline of the Rascal or watching Mike Skinner piss his pants on stage like the next Mark E Smith. Not that ghe streets was really in the same league as thd Rascal and last thing i heard he stopped all that anyway so fair play to him.

Loving the bit about the ego's SHM and condolescences if its gonna have to be dentist time anytime soon.

I will kill myself or someone else if the new linkin park album turns out to be any good, though this maybe unecessary as one of my mates will kill me first if they see it on my download list.

Not literally - so far as i know, was a turn of phrase - prob should have worded that one differently. A number of people i know saw him live around first couple of albums and said he was way too drunk to play, Amy winehouse levels. And i know he went into recovery and kicked everything, but alcohol was his main one i think. Trust me, no judgement coming from me at all - its cos its too close to the bone. i got into pills and stuff late teens when i was already well entrrnched into the binge drink culture and i was just a drunken mess in my early 20's. I also play / have played in various bands over the years and generally have managed to stay off the drink when i'm playing. Theres just different types of drinkers is all i guess - you got guys like slash a nd lemmy from motorhrad that just took it all in their stride - then you got the winehouses and skinners where it threatened to wipe out their carears. i always been a fan of skinner myself though - thought first streets album was great and always like reading interviews of his. seems like an all round genuine and intelligent really good guy. i also saw him myself at a festival about a year after Original Pirate Material came out and he was fine then i have to say.

He's been known to have been too out of it at 1 or 2 gigs. Hardly famous for it though. If anything he's famous for putting on a fucking top live show. I've seen him live 3 or 4 times & always thought they were great gigs.

Edit - He's not kicked everything at all. He's just calmed down with the amount he takes & the frequency that he takes it lol.

Edit again - I really wish I'd went to the first gig at The Barras. When they had the brandy cam getting passed through the crowd & were sitting on an inflatable couch smoking bongs during The Irony Of It All. My mates that were at it said it was by far the best Streets gig they've seen.

Cool, you're no doubt a lot more informed on it than me, i was sort of talking about his early career anyway. I always figured he was fine now and i freely admit to not knowing what he's been up to last few years. i definitely remember an interview from about four years back though when he was asked about recently "falling off the wagon" when he was at ayia napa . i know he was in NA or something at the time cos he saod he did everytthing and contrasted that with the full scale abstinence he was supposed to be on at the time. I did six months in NA myself when i was 21 and know theres not a lot of young guys there voluntarily. most come through treatment and he didnt do that so i know he must have felt he had enough of a problem to enter into the program. i guess i justrf identified with him and it stuck in my mind. glad to hear its all been good for him sense then though mate. i shouldnt have written what i did about him in that way though, i sort of had that in the back of my mind during the day after i posted it this morning.

crazy aint it, ive read slashs autobiography, and anthony kedis from the chili peppers etc, they took it to limits and beyond, madness. nikki sixx from motley crue etc, infact theres so many mash heads in the industry

Haha, it's sound mate. I'm just a bit of an unashamed Streets fan-boy. Plus I'm just about finished his book so a bit more fresh/clued up on things at the moment than I normally would be.
I'm quite a big Streets fan. Would love to see him live.

Maybe I should go back and edit my original post and make this thread impossible to follow? Nah just kidding. I should have wrote pete doherty instead, that would have been a safer bet - definitely seen footage from baby shambles era where he's just wandering around the stage crying and dribbling and stuff. That said, was probably a good thing at the time as it helped divert attention from his album material. I've always been a fan of the two libertines albums but that first babyshambles album was surely pure unadulterated pants, excuse the expression.

The first one? I still fucking love the first Babyshambles album. I don't like the second one. The second one isn't enough of a "shambles" if that makes sense lol. Too well produced & on time/in tune. The first one is a bit of a mess, in a good way.

It's great music for being coked up, wearing fake Ray Bans & spinning around the house with a bottle of rum in one hand & a joint/snout in the other while knocking shit over & annoying fuck out of everyone.

I got caught by builders in my mate's ex bird's house one day. We'd had a party all night upstairs, the downstairs of the house was a building site as the kitchen & shit was getting re-done. We had no idea the builders were in in the morning. Everycunt has went to sleep, I'm still wired to fuck standing on a chair with a bottle of Buckfast in hand & a pair of sunglasses on belting out Libertines tunes at the top of my voice when a wee apprentice comes walking up the stair & notices me "Having a good time aye big man???" hahahaha. The cunts were sound though, I asked them if my music was annoying them, they told me to turn it up!

I'm quite a big Streets fan. Would love to see him live.

Too late bud. The Streets is over. He's still doing stuff, as I said earlier - some shit with Rob Harvey (formerly of The Music) but no more Streets :(

That's a funny story - always maintain that the guy thats still up when all others have crashed invariably has the answer, and the builders no doubt spotted this instinctively. Fuck, enough drugs get done by builders on sites in the day time anyway.
Yeah i remember that tune. i guess my opinion on the album depends on whether i'n nod your head mode or getting all up mh own ass and getting into music critique mode. I listened to the thing about 3 or 4 times back to back and just had to let it go. i didnt really like the fact that all his lyrics were about doing drugs as it just seemed like he was getting cliched and falling into trap of his persona. i much preferred the libertines approach when he didnt seem constrained so much - i just found the songs so much more interesting. Always been a fan of the Doherty messiness though. Especially as i was sort burned out on the messiness at the time, i sort of lived it out through him. He always seemed more or less comfortable with the situation anyway. Even when he was in rehab it seemed he was more or less going through the motions. Theres a subtle divide i cant put my finger on. Doherty amusing - Jim Morrison tragic, and i'm sure that views shared by people around in late 60's / early 70' s too and isnt purely a product of the fact he died.

Is Pete Docherty dead? I was thinking about this the other day and I'm not sure whether he kicked the bucket or not. Seriously?

A quick web search reveals that he is currently alive although he did die last month but only temporarily before being revived.
