First taste of alcohol age 4. I was at the bar with my mom's fiancee (his brother owned the place). We were leaving and he always had a beer in the car and I asked if I could try it. He handed me the can and i sipped it.... I spit it out, lol. It was a hot Budweiser.

Tobacco, 10 or 11.

It's all downhill from there.

Abuse isn’t a term in the dsm, it’s substance use. Addictions are disorderly undeniably, or to have one is truly a disorder, mentally. And what does classifying something in a way you didn’t grow up with or hear through people who clearly aren’t professional or in authority, exert someone upwardly in authority or prodessionalism? What does your point have anything to do with my topic? If I said addiction, it would still be the same fucking fact and true as fuck, you…?

So what’s your point? You’re a junkie? Your point is.
Clean or using I am a junkie.

Its in my vain and brain, a symptom of living in a f*ck-ed up world that is miles away from what live is supposed to be like. We evolved to some sort of Ant's. At least that my look on things!

Had my first cigarette at 12. Got caught and then didn't smoke anymore for a while. Turned 17 and tried coke with a coworker, then started smoking cigarettes again, started smoking weed, took ecstasy, mushrooms, and acid, and various pain pills. Started heroin at 19, speedballs at 19 and meth at 21.
My parents are retarded. I got caught with weed in school a few times so at 14 they started buying me cigs everyday and told me to smoke those not weed

My first drug of choice was caffeine. I started drinking coffee at the age of three while riding to church with my dad every Sunday. I can remember getting it out of the percolator at church at that age as well.

My parents always allowed me to drink coffee. I'm sure when I was 3 it made me high, lol.

Absolutely no point whatsoever. Just drunk and on a rant.

I'm just very disillusioned with the drug, alcohol and mental health services available on the NHS. It might be free, but all they really do is see you for ten minutes then make more appointments. It gets to the stage where you get so sick of their shit that you totally succumb to addiction or you sort your shit out yourself.

Absolutely. The system is absolutely garbage and especially how it is right now. I see you’re UK, which I don’t know much about your system. But, here in Canada where, at least, we’re not the US for cost, the system is similarly fucked. Especially these days in pandemic.

I should have an article coming out with Volteface if you’re familiar. They’re a UK publication. I post it on DiTM whenever that’s ready if you’re interested. There’s some hope happening here.

That’s… hmm.😐
This was my dad actually, and he was not a smoker at the time and still isn't. Now he trolls me about quitting. He has other strange behavior like buying my mom packs and leaving them around when she tries to quit.

Sound like a real….what do you call it again…psycho ?

A little uncertain about the exact ages for some of it, but some of the "highlights" of my experiences with intoxicants are:

I was 14 (I think) when I got drunk for the first time.
16, mushrooms.
17, Ritalin and Viagra at a party (I had no idea it was Viagra).
23, cannabis, cigarettes' (only with cannabis) & MDMA
24, LSD, benzos, Tramadol
25, Oxy/opium.
27, heroin.
28, cigarettes (without cannabis).

I was a late bloomer drug-wise. Who the fuck starts smoking at 28? Was it 27? Whatever.

I consider myself to have a problem with drugs. So yes, I'm an addict, but I'm not addicted right now.
And I don't like using the word 'addict' - the Swedish translation, missbrukare, carries so much stigma here. I'm guessing that spills over for me.

If we’re talking first sip of booze I was prolly an infant, my grandparents were old school Italians, when I was teething they would use brandy to sooth the pain…but I also have a picture of me shit faced at like 6 at a New Year’s Eve party, maybe I’ll post that in the pic of yourself thread ha
That was legit medical treatment back then rofl

And smoking pot at age 23. You are a late bloomer. or more accordingly i started way to young, 16.5.

That with the fact the brain is sort a finished at 23 makes me wonder. have I become what I smoke. Is it some sort of symbiosis? Quittin' for me is very hard. i just like it to much.

Way more then Tobacco. My first drug.

That really is an oddity, but not that much I guess. I'd imagine the average age to start smoking would be around 18-20?

I was smoking a pack a day at 14

So glad I got off tobacco. Compared to the benefits it gives vs the risks it's honestly one of the dumbest addictive drugs you can do.

Vaping 5 years now, have not felt a single negat health effect from vaping, compared to cigarettes

Yeah, most of my friends started at 15, and I was still playing soccer at 15, so I wasn't interested in it. I'm thankful for that.

I found quitting both cigarettes and cannabis to be very difficult, to be honest. Not like quitting heroin difficult, but just this annoyance and (from cannabis) the fucking sleeplessness lasted forever. I just couldn't sleep more than two, three hours, for weeks.

I know I’m just throwing out blanket diagnosis’s of people I never met, totally normal

I get insomnia, shortness of breath, anxiety, overstimulated and it's like cocaine vs crack with the addiction potential with vapes

Here, I'd say most kids start at 14-15, which is really sad. And instead of banning cigarettes at my old school (that my younger sister went to after me), where kids are 12-16 years old, they made a special smoking corner in the school yard, with a bench and all for the smoking kids.
Snus is more prevalent here though.

That is heavy! I tried snus 14. I projectile vomited everywhere. That put me off that shit at least.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm off that shit to. I only smoke tobacco when I roll joints, which isn't that often nowadays.
And Jesus Christ, it makes a world of difference when it comes to running, for example.

Hmmm. Well, I started smoking cigarettes at 9 years old. I started drinking, smoking pot at 11 years old. Around 17, started exploring into pills. Around the same time was my adventures into methamphetamine. Then recently, like last year, the door to psychedelics was opened to me.
