Brace yourself cuz this isn't your "every-day question"...

Is it just me, or do (male) orgasms caused by wet-dreams (nocturnal emission) feel so much better than orgasms from having sex awake?

Awake O
: More "pushing" than there is "contraction:" can feel like orgasm is caused by "too much" pressure in the penis (can slightly hurt if path of semen is overly blocked). Usually tract is sore after ejaculation, until peeing that is. Can be somewhat dysphoric is penis is over-stimulated (beyond it's sensitivity level, e.g. friction when too dry). Can range anywhere from 1-10 in intensity. Feeling thick semen leaving can distract from other sensations.

Nocturnal O: Less overwhelming "pressure" inside (less soreness), stronger contractions as well as pushing. Ejaculation is more "pulsating"/"flicking". Pulsations located more towards deep in prostate up to penis base (my favorite aspect, feels so damn good!). Muscles generally more relaxed/loose.Tract not as sore. Great euphoric rush because of quickness (can go from barely hard to orgasm in just 2 seconds) with a high pleasure peak before release. Pulsations are more abundant and last longer. Usually ranges consistently 7-10 intensity regardless of how sexy the dream partner is. Overall more pleasurable. As a bonus less cleanup. `

Has anyone else (males) noticed these differences?
What is your preference and why (don't factor in intimacy, just focus on the physical part of it)? To what (physiologically) do you think the differences are attributed?
(I would think that evolution would have dictated the awake orgasm to feel better, since nocturnal emission isn't reproduction.)

p.s. I know this is a weird question, but please respond in a mature manner because I'm genuinely curious about this (no joke). Also females may chime in cuz that would be interesting to compare as well... Ah such are the random thoughts of an arm-chair philosopher/stoner on a late-night sativa-headies-high.

well, i masterbate fairly often and dont build up enough semen to have a wet dream, if thats the cause. the ones that i do remember were very sensual, i felt alot more dissociated in my dream and im very visual when it comes to stimulation. i've only had sex a couple of times so ill compare my few experiences to masturbation orgasms. in my dreams the pleasure scale is 6-9, a good blowjob being 8-10, masturbation being around 5 because i do it so often. this is making me crave a wet dream, i think ima quit jacking off for a couple of weeks and hope for the best. i really cant remember really what a wet dream feels like anymore... so yeah

I think they both can feel just as good as each other, I think it's all about how you fuck and how much you can strain yourself. If you are careful, awake sex is just as good IMO, probably better. I would suggest having more drawn out, slower paced sex, see what you think then.

I get wet dreams if I go too long without ejaculating. I have not had one in a while and I can't stand it when they happen. They happen in the middle of the night like 3-4 am, I have to go into the bathroom, clean off the semen from my legs and put on a new pair of underwear, and sometimes even clean off my bed spread before I can get to bed. If there is a greater sensation it is overwhelmed by the amount of annoyance I feel about cleaning up after it.

I haven't had a wet dream in years. These days, if I'm sleeping and get to the verge of orgasm, I always wake up rather than finish :( Maybe I'm just a lighter sleeper than I used to be.

That being said, the big thing for me is that you can control an awake orgasm but not so much a sleeping one. I'd rather be able to choose a time and place and do it every day than go to sleep each night knowing it may or may not happen that particular night.

And what do you mean "less cleanup"? :D A wet dream should still leave a load in your underwear, which by the way, gets all over your cock'n'balls and is a sticky mess :| If anything, a wet dream is MORE cleanup....you pretty much have to shower to clean all that spooge off your crotch. At least with masturbating you can aim at your landing pad and not make a sticky mess in your drawers.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd ALWAYS pick the awake O's.

come to think of it, i've never cummed from a wet dream. i've been masturbating aprox daily since i was 13. so... i dont think my balls had a chance. i think i certainly enjoy wet dreams more than actual sex. i also prefer masterbation to actual sex. i guess im just wierd

lol... I get more action in my sleep these days, personally I find them more acute, but not as long-lasting.... then again, I don't have testicles, so it may well be a different kettle of fish ;)

Wet dream orgasms vary for me, they can be very intense or I might ejaculate without feeling much of anything. The same can be said for waking orgasms, the difference being that the intensity of the orgasm is generally contingent on the quality of the sex. With the former it's totally random.

i find my sexual dreams to be highly frustrating, for one reason-

i never get to cum.

Fuck, it happens to me too, when I'm about to cum I wake up or the dream just turns into something else and I loose it.
There must be a reason for that, is it for fapping/having sex everyday? Or maybe it is phsycological?

I hate it when it happens :(

Haha this has happened to me many times. I thought it was some freak psychological problem, but apparently there are several mentions of it in this thread.

Just before nocturnal-cumming, like one more push to go, it will fade/disappear/change. I've noticed that I am more likely to achieve it if i hadn't ejaculated within 3 or more days, the more = the better and stronger. I also tend to have more wet-dreams to begin with in a period of abstinence.

This idea that there is a distinct difference crossed my mind once or twice in my life due to my own perception of a difference but only recently since indulging in marijuana did it really weigh on my mind to the point that I wanted to see if other people had a similar perception. I suppose marijuana activates the dream state because the first time I smoked and had an orgasm while at the peak of my high, I felt the closest I ever had to that wet dream sensation while awake. The Op's description is spot on. It's as if the feeling starts somewhere deep in the prostate and spreads. It felt like my entire groin and part of my stomach acquired new nerve endings. My awareness of the contractions were exaggerated, and just as the feeling gripped and overwhelmed the coronal ridge, the urge to urinate came causing a slight panic that I was going to piss the bed. I suspect that is because the semen is thinner in texture. Overall it just made me feel super vulnerable and primal. I wish I knew more about the science behind it.

My wet dream orgasms fucking suck. They usually involve me orgasming way quicker than I would like and frequently in odd, only slightly sexual connotations (ie see a hot girl and orgasm). If I have sex in my dreams it's cool and all but I never orgasm.

EDIT: Well damn, that thread was long dead.

I like wet dream orgasms more because they happen out of necessity. I do a lot of sexual abstinence, so that's why. Also, in dreams, they happen with a girl. In real life, they don't. :C

I do lots of heroin, and often, too, so when I go a few days without... oh, man... anything will set it off, and that's when I tend to have wet dreams.

I hate wet dreams! I do not think that they feel better than the orgasms I have when I'm awake; in fact, they don't feel all that great at all. I think it's because most of the time when I have them, I have to pee as well, and I always wake up right before I blow my wad...
