Western Australia Customs Hassle with Test Kit

So I ordered an EZ TEST Complete and was sent the EZ Test White by mistake.
Anyways, I received a letter from Australia POST saying they wouldn't deliver it because it was marked dangerous goods and I would have to pick it up.
When I did so a guy from Customs questioned and hassled me about it and told me that they had informed WA State Police...

Should I be worried about this?

Hmm, I am not in AUS, but I know they are very particular about shipping chemicals/dangerous goods out of the country (it's why PR/Enlighten can only sell kits within AUS). Hopefully our friend phase_dancer, who is from AUS, will see this thread and be able to help you out regarding the police contact.

Best of luck to you, and keep us updated. :)

It's not itself illegal as far as I know. Just be extra careful with your E taking, just in case they do inform the police which will keep tabs on you. Like nothing in writing about illegal activity (texts, e-mail, internet posts), don't talk about it on the phone and don't deal with it in public places.

It's probably just a stupid scare but being extra careful certainly won't hurt.

Thanks for the advice.
If EZ Test had sent me the kit I ordered I wouldn't be too worried but because they sent me the one for testing cocaine not pills I'm worried that implicates me in something more serious.
The customs guy noted that my brother was overseas and clearly insinuated that they thought we might be involved in smuggling and trafficking.

Probably just trying to scare me, but I'll let you know if anything eventuates.

Hard to know whether or not you should be worried. It depends upon why the police were notified. I'm interested to hear if the customs officer said anything about importing dangerous goods, or were his remarks only in connection with what the kit is used for?

I assume EZ white contains chloroform. That's a dangerous goods class # 6.1 chemical (toxin) and must be shipped as such. It can't be legally sent via Aus post, and there's only a few freight companies in Australia that will handle this class.

Please keep us updated

The only reference to the issue of dangerous goods was made in the letter sent to me explaining it should not be sent via post and I would have to collect it.
The customs officer himself only questioned me on what the kit was used for (the package was opened and he clearly already knew the purpose of the kit is to test cocaine). He directly asked me if I was involved in the sale/supply of drugs, noted that my brother was in Europe (insinuating that he was on a smuggling trip), asked if I had any drugs at my house, and told me that they had notified police and that I may be contacted by them.

Apart from informing him that I ordered a kit for testing pills not cocaine purity, I didn't admit to anything that might incriminate me.

I made the mistake of leaving with the kit after he said they couldn't stop me from having it. In hindsight I should have told them to keep it as I don't have any use for it anyways.
