i went to the doctor today...it was basically the regular check-up with the blood drawing and the urine sample..My question is that...will opiates or any drug i did recently show up in the urine or blood test although it isn't a drug test?? nedd answers ASAP. thanks

My guess is no.. because they dont look for that kinda stuff in other tests *I think*.

The way I understand it, the lab might do a drug screen and then send the info (excluding your name) to some place that makes statistics about drug use. Besides that, it doesn't matter if you would turn up positive for drugs or not.

Absolutely not. If they don't test for something, it has nowhere TO show up.

There is no reason why a doctor would do a drug test, unless maybe you revealed your recent history to him. Even if he did though, the whole doctor-patient confidentiality thing prevetns him from doing anything about it. It might be a good idea to ask your doctor what sort of confidentiality they practice, just to know.

Nope, they are not testing for drugs but rather lipid counts, blood sugar levels, hemoglobin A1c, cholesterol, and shit like that ... even if you tested hot for something it's not going to get you in trouble (I worked as a phlebotomist so I can say this with a good deal of accuracy) .. tests cost money, so it's not like they take blood and say "ahh what the hell, lets test him for every chemical known to man" ...

I had the exact same thing happen to me except the doctor was my dad I got the lab results back and like everyone said it's just regular crap like cholesterol and stuff, the only peculiar part of it was something about my liver, but that was because I had been drinking some vodka about 10 hours before the test. I had forgot I wasn't supposed to drink or eat anything after midnight

As ppl above have mentioned, they won't do a drug screen during a routine blood exam... nothing to worry about.
However, in some states, you may be drug-tested if you are pregnant... this is controversial but done some places.

They *WILL* test for alcohol - not to catch teenagers getting drunk, but to check to see if the patient may be diabetic.. I can't explain it but the sugar anmd yeast in your body actually makes you into a human still and alcohol will show up in your urine - not that explaination is really half-assed, but it's SOMETHING like that...
