meh... most of the electronic music on Radio One is atrocious. Not that there is ANY worthwhile american radio, but most of those radio 1 shows do electronic music in general a disservice, IMO.
you were wrong about that though. we pay our bbc tv licence to fund that stuff, just so you unappreciative colonials can listen to it for free! :!

something should be done about it. i suggest nuking america.

I don't listen to it, I think its atrocious, remember?

I like to listen to the BBC news stuff from time to time, though.

ok, stop listening to it then. it's all or nothing. they only make it available there so we can listen to it when we're working or holidaying there. so show some appreciation, bitch!!! :X =D

We actually have some good stuff here on a college station called KCRW. From 7-9 Jason Bently spins some pretty good stuff. Hey, you can listen now if you want!

Same here. Public radio can be really good.

National congolerate radio is not so good. I think anything in the US with substantial broadcasting power is a station run by one of 2 conglomerates. Its all the same shit. You can't escape it. In some larger metro areas they apparently even time the mandatory breaks so that you can't change from one station to another during commercial breaks and escape the advertising... its all fine tuned to make you suffer through ads and listen to the worst music known to mankind.

Not that all college radio is good either... I can get my fil of indie rock pretty quickly... but the variety is pretty nice, and a welcome change.

I have noticed that as well. I have been thinking more and more about satellite but I don't really spend enough time in my car which is where I would use it the most.

yay, tomorrow is friday and i have two interviews.

i am finally getting settled into seattle. this weekend i need to change my OH license to a WA one. for some stupid reason, lots of jobs (that don't require driving) require a local driver's license.

I could use some interviews. Jobs are a bit scarce around here at the moment, and I was laid off, no luck so far and not much unemployment left. A lot of people I know are in the same position now. One of my friends went and joined the national guard out of desperation. Now he'll probably get shipped off to Afghanistan just because of a jacked up economy.

I thought it might be nice to have a break for a little while, but I'm getting really bored. It gives me a chance to read though, between searching for jobs, which is cool I guess. I'm killing a book everyday or every other day. and its nice to not be completely spent at night, so I can work on projects, cook and whatnot. I'd rather have a job though.

Happy Friday!

Did you major in philosphy? I've always wondered what people do after that. It seems like you either teach philosophy, or write books or something.

I'm pretty open to doing whatever at the moment... there's just not a lot of work available anywhere. Its pretty crazy how many unemployed people I know right now. Not like lazy stoner unemployed people (haha. I know some of those too though.), but folks actively looking for stuff to do.

What did you major in?

psychology. my past few jobs have been in early childhood education tho. it tends to pay better and offer more hours.

^i was a nanny and then a preschool teacher before moving. teaching young child doesn't require a specific degree or teaching license like teaching in an elementary school would.

i decided i really enjoy teaching and am going back for a master's in special ed.

i had no idea what i wanted to do when i was in undergrad, so i picked psychology because i thought it was interesting. i still find it interesting, but not enough to want to go into research or anything.

Sounds a lot like my wife. She is going for her masters right now and is a teachers aid for Autistic or otherwise mentally challenged kids grades K-4 or something like that.

what is she getting her master's in?

the job i really really really want right now is in the children's psych ward at the local hospital. they have their own charter school and each child enrolled has a one on one aide. i think it would be awesome to be an aide there while in school and then teach there when i graduate.

Masters in psychology. She knew going into it that there was going to be nothing for her unless she decided to continue her education beyond a bachelors degree. She hates school now though and is regretting going for her masters. She will get through it though, she is a champ.
