Benzos Weird weird question about shaking caused by benzos

As I have bored the majority of these boards whining incessantly about coming off benzos I;m sure most of you know that I am doing this LOL

but anyways, one thing I was wondering was what causes to shaking to be in particular parts of the body? Like for instance for me it is in my left hand and is much worse in one finger...

does anyone know the reasons for this.... its very strange... if I had my hands out straight that one hand will twitch and shake a lot and the other will remain pretty stable...

so yeah, does anyone know why this happens instead of it being the whole body or both hands or whatever?

thanks :).

benzos promote GABA activity. GABA is an inhibitor of neurons, and when you take benzos, GABA is more likely to bind to a receptor. your body adjusts to this and GABA does not have as much inhibitory effect. when you stop taking benzos, GABA does not bind to the receptors as well, which are used to having GABA to function normally. since GABA does not bind to the neuron as well (the normal amount), sodium channels open up much more often (because neurons are used to having GABA) and you get neurons firing all over the place.

benzo withdrawal sucks.

thanks for your reponse but I kinda knew that bit... what I was wondering is why does it occur is say my left hand.. rahter than my right hand or whatever?

and yeah, it fucking sucks! lol!

Don't think anyone could tell you the exact reason...just random firings of neurons in my opinion. Fucking sucks.

It's essential tremor, and it's caused by many stressful situations, not just benzo withdrawal. I've always had a bit of a tremble, but it has been considerably worse since benzo use/ withdrawal. It gets worse after exercise or stress.

If it's really bad for me, I'll drink a beer. It seems like I'm at the point now where I can handle small amounts of beer without setting off unpleasant benzo w/d symptoms. Alcohol is well known for easing a tremble, and also for causing it in withdrawal as do benzos.
