Stimulants Weird taste and No clouds from light bulb?

So I let my friend barrow my pipe and just got some Crystal.

I've been smoking out of a light bulb but for some reason the chemical taste is super strong and gags me. Also, I'm not getting the clouds that I usually get. Its almost as if I'm not getting any smoke at all, even though I'm completely clearing the smoke inside.

I've tried all sorts of changes; making it more air tight, making it less airtight, putting the straw further in, letting the whole bulb get milky before i pull, but it always is the same result.

I have also been smoking off of foil but it seems like I end up burning little holes in it and I feel like foil smoke isn't very healthy.
