This is my first time trying poppy seed tea and I used the original method of mixing half of a pound of poppy seeds into a two liter bottle with cold water and a bit of lemon juice, shook vigorously for 5 or so minutes and filtered out the liquid.
The first two times i did this rinse, the liquid had a mildly dark yellow tint to it, which i expected, so i filtered out the liquid and left it in the fridge. I then, a couple hours later, decided to do a third wash just to see if i could get anything out of it, so i added more water (no lemon juice this time) to the already wet seeds and rinsed them again, but this time the resulting liquid was 100% opaque and tan in color. It looks nothing like the original two rinses, and im just curious if anyone could give me some insight as to why this happened? I assume it has something to do with the seeds having already been wet for hours, but im just not sure.
Im also not sure if i should drink the third rinse-worth of tea, any ideas?
