I get that all the time, usually during the first few nights after rolling.
It's just like an electric shock to the mind, at least that's what it seems like.
I also experience a different variation of it. I have a condition called tinnitus, which is a constant ringing in the ears. When I'm trying to sleep, and about to fall asleep, it's like someone SUDDENLY/INSTANTLY turns the volume up on the ringing full blast to such proportions that I suddenly jump back awake. It's like a deafening screech, almost like something you would hear from a short wave radio - but really really loud.
Weird huh? It's like an electric high pitch squeel that "booms" in and wakes me up (along with that electric shock sensation you described). It makes me sort of afraid to go back to sleep in case it returns, but I eventually get back to sleep no worries. When it first happened, I thought I had brain damage and was sort of paranoid about going to sleep in case I died! This effect definitely is tied in some how with serotonin depletion, don't know how - don't think anyone has an explanation.
I also have really weird/trippy dreams the night after rolling hard.
I recall dreaming about super simple stuff like this:
imagine a white screen, then imagine cris cross black lines across it, like a never ending pattern. Now, my dream was simply "paying attention" in rapid alternating sequence to a white spot, then a black part (a part of one of the black lines), so that I was in a way, skipping along on white, then black, etc, but really quickly.
Mental.
