Ok i wrote a similar post a couple weeks ago asking about something similar but now this one sucks, heres the problem.

Im rx'ed 12mg Bupe and 5mg Diazepam 2 times daily 3 times if needed. The sub's no problem thats fine, now Like a douchebag i took the valium a third time a couple times and when i called them today to say in 2 days im out of my valium, i got told to take effexor( which we all know takes atleast 2 week to a month to work) and that they would fill the valium this monday comming up. Now i've been on this dose ( 10mgs ) for Almost 2 months now. Im wondering if i will get WD's from it. I usually take the 10mgs at once when 5mg stopped working right. And 10mgs at once actually does usually last all day and through the night for anxiedy stuff but like i said i at times do need to take the 3rd 5mg pill which i was told was allowed to do. Kinda fucked up huh? Will i get wds?

Also as i do have 4 5mg pills left, would potentiators actually make these last. I have Cimetidine 200mg pills thats not problem and Diphen ( bendryl ) easily enough to get as i take it alot around this time a year. or am i just letting this anxiedy shit get to me being worried about Wd's when i shouldn't be worried. My brother keeps saying just get Kpins or xans. in the spot if i had too i'd go with Kpin because of it's similarity to Diazepam with long effects but for one, I don't want to take it and have it fail on my test for the sub Dr's and 2 i dont want to get in the habit of taking medications not Rx'd to me. I finally got out of my junky hell. Any help on how exactly potentiators work, meaning does anyone actually know how much they potentiate the levels of it in the body or is it just a feeling of sedation added. I've read a bunch of potentiaton threads on here and they all seem to say for further sedation therefore not helping my cause.

Any Help would be awesome as in 2 days if i can do something about this, im fucked.

Thank in advance,
-B

If you can at least take 5mg/day along with cimetidine and diphenhydramine it shouldn't be that bad. Due to the long half-life of diazepam you can probably skip a day and not feel withdrawal symptoms that much. Since you have 4 pills left and really only need them for 5 days (not counting today or the day you get it filled) you should be alright. Real withdrawals usually happen a) when lowering your dose a lot after being on a steady dose for 3 months or so, or b) when you are completely out of benzos.

Thank you for answering so fast :). So you are saying i will definitely get wd's? See i was thinking about the long half life of valium as well, how that would play into exactly when i would start wd's. I know this may sound stupid, but i was if i may most likely won't get wd's i mine as well be comfortible for 2 days and just bug out for the other 3-4 days or be somewhat comfortible for the whole time. Know what i mean? when it's an anxiedy thing it blows, im like i said an ex Heroin addict too and the thought of wd's of any form scare the shit out of me, especially when i went though all this to get away from wd's. One more question, im told Cimetidine can also potentiate Bupe, which i really don't need it too. How could i achieve the goal you speak of without it effecting the suboxone. By Taking the sub, waiting an hour til i feel the full effects or would it the Cimetidine still effect the breakdown of the sub? Sorry for all the questions, im just in a shitty spot and pretty worried...

Thanks again,
B

I was saying that you won't really get withdrawals, other than maybe not sleeping as good as usual. If you have been on this dose for a lot longer then dropping it in half would cause some withdrawals, but since you haven't been on it that long and will still have some in your system although in a lower dose, you should be fine.

The long half-life helps because it takes longer for your body to eliminate the drug, so it is in your system for a long time. When I was prescribed xanax I could never make it 24 hours without dosing, but when I switched to diazepam I was able to go 48 hours pretty easily.

As for the bupe, you could probably hold off on dosing for a couple more hours than usual. Potentiators don't make the effects of the drug stronger, but rather make the drug last longer by causing the body to eliminate it slower. It's kind of like extending the half-life as opposed to increasing effects.

im not sure you are going to find a 'high' from Xanax.

alprazolam is better for levelling you out, not getting you high...thats how they work for me anyway, each to their own.

Oh so basically i don't even really need the potentiation of the Diazepam? Thank you tommyboy for being patient with me, like i said im not always the easiest person to explain something to online, theres no tone to a typed message. Even though i do have a pretty good basic knowledge of how drugs work like half lifes and bio avails and all the basics.

Im with you on that about xanax. For me it was awesome for panic attacks and stuff like that, but as the main drug for helping my specific disorder. Like you i needed one with a long half life like Valium or Klonopin. That was before i had a drug problem and stopped seeing that Psychatrist(sp) and now this is through my addiction therapist. My suboxone Dr and my therapist are all in contact so they have a pretty good communication going which is good for my recovery.

Anway, i notice that the anti-histamines seem to add to sedation part of my diaz, which i do understand they tend to make people sleepy or almost a little sedated on their own. i've never actually used the Cimetidine since i've never been in this pickle before. I do take your word for it that Cimetidine and most potentiators in general, more take care of duration purposes rather than effecting the drug itself. So Basically if i decide on potentiation, take the Cimetidine, wait 30-45 mins then take the valium, and hold off on the suboxone for a couple hours. Thank you for all your help, you just took a good thousand pound weight off my back.
Seriously though, thank you so much for your help,
-B

It sounds like a good plan, but I would save the diphenhydramine for the nighttime. I wouldn't worry about the effects of the bupe being any different. When you are on a daily maintenance dose even taking more of the bupe doesn't seem to make much of a difference, so the cimetidine shouldn't present any problems. The only thing that I felt had a significant effect of suboxone was when I took benzos with it, which you have been doing, so I doubt you will feel any different effects from taking the suboxone + cimetidine. You have the right idea though to take the cimetidine after the bupe, but 30-45 minutes before the diazepam.

And to laugh, Thanks for your reply.

Yeah i probably wouldn't get high especially taking the right dose, but i was also worried about failing my drug test as im not 100% sure on how the tests they give me work. They give me 2 different ones. The one, they stopped giving me because im pretty sure was a basic test to see if you took anything other than sub, and being RX'd valium i'd fail everytime. Now the other one they send out, i guess it's a level test or a more through one to see everything you've done. as i said i dont understand which kind of test it is or how it works. The last thing i need is for them to think im sneaking around taking other drugs when they went out of their way to help me and then cut my valium which i really do need for this disorder.

Out of all the drugs they have tried, All of the SSRI's, SSNI's And Anti Psys and stuff like that, Valium works amazingly for me and i would be lost if they took it away from me. People with a nasty anxiedy disorder and other mental illness would also agree, it can be life changing when a medication works properly. The Difference between going outside and not going outside, meaning if it gets cut, im back to not leaving the house and having no job, or life8(. Back to living in a hell, even though im not doing H anymore and doing every little thing i can do to keep my recovery progressing. Thank you for your reply either way.:)

Sleep good tonight, you seriously helped someone.

Awesome, so now i can finally stop (well atleast try ) to get these anxiedys rewinding and playing over and over and over haha. It's funny this is the first time since i've been on Valium that i've had the horrible racing thoughts that never seem stop rewinding and playing, or changing to a new horrible thought. As i said, you lifted a gigantic weight off my back,

Thank you Again, You seriously helped me out so much here, and stayed patient with me i know i can get annoying,

No problem. I was on suboxone maintenance for a little over a year about 4-5 years ago, and have been prescribed benzos for my anxiety disorder, so I have been through this before.

You'll probably have increased levels of anxiety, and probably some insomnia, but should for the most part be fine. You could take cimetidine to inhibit metabolization, as that might help stretch it a little further. I'd recommend hydroxyzine or doxylamine succinate over diphenhydramine for night time. Also herbal tinctures/capsules of valerian and kava-kava can be very useful. Even a double or triple bag cup of chamomile helps take the edge off.

Ive been on Valium 10mg/day for 2 years, no increase in dosage. Also its built up in my system enough to where i can go atleast 2 days without dosing and not really notice at all
