It's better then drinking and driving. Unless you have some FIRE that you weren't expecting. I think nodding out and driving is fun. You just have to stay awake at stop lights.
i've had the same thing happen with oxy. i thought i was literally going to pass out and i was afraid to lose consciousness. the feeling was so strong its hard to describe, but i think i was just afraid to embrace the nod or something maybe.
ive definitely had the racing heartbeat and the panic attack about ODing as well. i used to get that quite frequently too.
^^Make note that what he says is in no way safe driving practices lol. I'm sure he's just speaking of his own personal experiences, but just in case someone else does realize this, no one should take that to be a safe idea to stay focused on the road. Using coke to counter the nod from dope may work, but is not the safest way to stay alert at the wheel.
The hardest thing for me when I drive after using dope is that sometimes when I do a big shot, I feel like my eyes have trouble staying focused. It seems to worsen when exposed to extra light, such as bright headlights or something. It's almost like I go crosseyed a little bit and I have to close my eyes and try real hard to focus my eyes again. Anyone else ever experience this or is it just me?

To the OP, I haven't personally IV'ed heroin, though I have snorted, plugged and smoked quite a bit over the past decade and so am pretty familiar with its effects. I haven't IV'ed morphine either, though I have IM'ed pharmaceutical grade morphine a couple of times. From my own experiences, those of friends, and the knowledge I've acquired during the course of my drug using days, I think that 1 or more of 3 possible causes is likely responsible for your reaction:
#1 (most likely the cause IMO) is that you shot up morphine---either morphine has been in your dope all along and you just shot up more than you have in the past, or that for whatever reason your dope contained a large amount of, or just was entirely morphine. IV morphine takes a few minutes to kick in like you described which is unlike heroin. And also heroin doesn't really (as far as I'm aware of) give people a "pins and needles" sensation, while morphine on the other hand is well known for causing a strong "pins and needles" rush for a few minutes after injection.
#2. A cut like benzocaine (sic?) was in your dope which I've heard is somewhat common and can cause increased heartbeat, BP problems, tunnel vision etc...
OR,
#3 Because of either; low blood sugar, being over-tired, having an adverse reaction to a cut in your heroin, having a mild panic attack, simply doing just enough more heroin than you're used to or anything else, you experienced that odd reaction.
But, like I said before, IMO you shot up morphine w/out knowing it, thus explaining the pins and needles, and since you were unaware you were shooting up morphine instead of heroin the effects were weird. (Like when you order a root beer and get orange soda instead or something)
