Interesting to note that not one person went with a pic of some really elderly looking human being.

I suspect that a shot such as that may well have been a winner.

Personally I didnt have the balls to take one..........lol.

5. Photographs must be no wider than 700 and no higher than 700.

Your image was 730px wide :(

I thought Alpha Charlies was just brilliant, it was the narly old tree behind that did it for me.

Ummm, Not sure I get why Sun is so far ahead..........but thats prolly cos i look at stuff different to most I guess.

question, for all you photo knowledgeable people out there...

what do you look at when you are judging the pics? I like voting on these, but am frequently really torn between 2-3 pics, and they are often very different yet unique. I wish I knew something about photography which would help me determine which one should get my vote, other than "This one is prettier!" or "This one will be a wasted vote, so I'll go with the other one."

I try to look in general for flaws which could have been eliminated, such as shadows, lighting, angle... but what are some other basic things which can help me narrow it down?

Personally I firstly take into consideration the subject.........in this case, old.

I then keep that in mind and select what i think attracts me most about a certain pic taking the subject into account..........maybe it will have a certain feeling or revive memories for me or whatever.

Its highly personal.

And I dont think its right to eliminate someone because you think its a wasted vote.

And as for lighting and stuff like that............I couldnt give a shit, Im not critiquing someones work, im picking a pic that i like.

When it comes to who took the best picture Sun definatly beats everyone else. That picture is so cleanly taken as well as the angle it was taken from.

Thanks for the positive comments people.

I was lucky with the focus on that shot because the camera got serviced about a month after and needed replacing due to a faulty 'focus-finder'.

Hooray for faulty equipment!

It was really close between chrissie and sun's for me, but I ended up voting sun because of that angle which it was taken from. Brilliant shot.
