Weed Sparking/Sizzling When Smoked

Just got some fresh bud today, went to put it in the bowl and whoa, as I am taking a hit it sparks all over and makes a sizzling sort of noise... what the fuck. I've had bud that leaves a few sparks here and there which doesnt really bother me coz its real common and most often than not its the flint from the lighter, but this shit is like a fireworks show and it getting me worried...

I've scoured the net and no one really knows, some say impropper curing teqnique/too fast some say its pesticides/chems (fucking certainly hope not) and some say its metal...

Its really pissing me off to be honest, watching my weed sizzle and spark like that sends a cascade of thoughts off, is it water and harmless or is it metal, what if its aluminium isnt that linked with increase in alheimers oh shit it could be anything what if when burned it changes composition and turns carcinogen oh wait no please dont be pesticdes who knows what could happen it could be neurodegeneration waiting to happen! Yeah, you get what I mean things escalate quickly when Im high :P

What do you guys think?

I've had shit weed that sparks and sizzles, I used a bong with it and after about 4 cones my head felt like it was going to explode and I fell on my ass, no idea what the fuck was in it but I suspect pesticides.
 
I only had a bit of it and decided il stop and look into it further and came up with those answers. I tried a bit more and I gotta say, it gives a really wierd high that I dont enjoy at all so put it down... I've heard idiots spraying their bud with actual bug spray because it was infested and thsi has put me off.

Feeling a bit nauseated aswell and a strong brain fog not a high, deffintly wont be having this bud.

Search "MischMetal", this shall possibly invite more citicism about flint lighters!... Personally i favour this type of portable power device over most others so far:

The tip didn't heat too fast when i tested that particular "piezo" design (this is important when using a vaporizer pipe like mine). At the moment i happen to be looking for a refillable duplex/hybrid "SideKick" type of (pipe) lighter though, since i prefer things which can last.

Euh... Oh, euh... I mean eliminate the flint and then maybe you'll feel a wee bit less worried about hazardous health issues! Next, why not consider giving vaporisation a chance or two?!

This has happened with my bud before, I read the same things you did about improper curing and/or pesticides...I smoked it and nothing has ever happened to me so I wouldn't be worried about any (immediate) dangers. Could you contact your connect? Or when you say "fresh" do you mean that you grow it?
 
its sprayed. ive smoked sprayed loads a times (wish i hadnt), its really bad on the chest its horrible. still didnt throw it away though because i paid for it.
 
maybe try leaving it in the sun for a little and see if its any different

it probably wont tbh but its worth a shot
 
Sounds like you got some silicone coated weed.

It used to be a big problem here in the U.K and it's the main reason why most U.K weed nowadays is locally grown and costs a fortune.
Before those pesky dutch peeps started spraying our imported weed, we used to have quality cheap buds in abundance.

Way to go morons.
 
a lot of dealers spray their weed with water to make it weigh more. that might b the issue
 
Nah this is deffintly not lighter flint this shit is like a sparkler lol, even in a joint it sparkles!

I did have some more of it, the high feels very shit and fuck knows what im inhaling. Nah not my own grow, certainly wouldnt be putting any nasty stuff if I was growing it, id rather choose my health over using chems if the plant ever had pest issues! Also yeah did notice this feels a bit worse on the lungs :s

At the end of the day, this isnt really a question anyone can answer as it could be anything really from moisture to some sort of chem so im off to my usual source for some nice, organic, wholesome buds =D

Edit: might aswell leave it out to dry it a bit more and see if it is moisture, lucky it was only 2 grams anyway couldnt care less

Sounds tainted, given how it made you feel. I wouldn't have anymore, and I'd find another source.

Since the title appears to imply that the herb might happen to be contaminated, in a similar situation i might attempt to determine what's a proper method to displace the nobles molecules only, while leaving heavy metals and such behind. Vaporisation is a process which is based on a substance's temperature, anyhting that would evaporate above this temperature will be extracted with target ingredients that are desirable. As a result i'd feel like i may need to imagine a way to purify my herbal load prior to consumption using a vaporizer, so... I'll bet that could keep me buzzy a whole evening.

Most likely there would be 94 % concentrated grain alcohol, or perhaps some suitable oil since cannabic resin from dry flowers will also transfer to oils (i used burning-hot oil for some cleaning tasks before). Whatever which won't dissolve in such a medium would never reach a vaporisation bowl to begin with, burning-hot air reaching about 185 °C ±20 ° in the vaporizer would only extract the molecules of the filtered substance if their evaporation point happens to be appropriate. In order to sort out even more contaminants i might want to pre-process my pre-purified cannabic load... Since i like having dry flowers in my bowl this implies i'd most likely want to use that as a substrate for my final oily extract. Anyway, water is a solvant too and curing by osmosis is another known technique where unwanted matter can be separated from the herb. Twice a day i'd purge my water with fresh (possibly distilled) water and repeat for 5 days, 6 at most since the cleaning action follows an asymptotic progression, meaning the benefit for each additional day becomes impercetibly beneficial after a week or so.

If i must recapitulate i'd water-cure for 5 days, perform some QWET extraction and VAPORIZE it on some pad, vegetal and potent preferably.

But that's me! Perhaps it's all "stoner" talk, actually... Of course once we add the monetary variable to this equation the perspective must be expected to differ significantly, but i'll leave that for others to develop if it's called for.

Dont have access to a vaporiser so wont be an option! In all honesty, for what its worth I've got people who couldnt care less for the sparks... Lucky for them! Its just too much of a muck around to worry about getting rid of whatever impurity is on the bud, then again it may not get it all off and blah too hard - if it was a large amount yeah but.

This stuff puts me to sleep and just gives me a brain fog, eugh
 
If you actually see sparks coming off your bud then my money's on it being contaminated.

If you just hear a lot of sizzle and popping with no visual markers then it's likely just excessively wet.
 
Yea, I wouldn't smoke that anymore. Throw it away or sell i. I've had buds with chems on them but I tasted it in the smoke. Also my tounge and lips tingled so I dunno, like you said it could be anything, get rid of it and find some good clean bud



Weed is all you need smoke green not blue !
 
agreed i wouldnt smoke it. Chances are its Chemied out. Could also be mited out. And as cornishman said more and more growers spray their weed with shit to make it heavier, if heard of the silicone as well as sand or glass (insulation).

its always good to know exactly where ur shits coming from, when in doubt... grow your own =)
