web designers/programmers/etc - show off your work

chrissie - your touchups are really nice. especially the one of the older lady, very well done. I've never been too good at those, you guys who do them well amaze me.

anna - overall, I like the look of realworldparenting.com. there is only one thing that seems off to me and that is the "swoosh" that goes through the links at the top of the page over to the other frame. everything on that site is in a very organized grid structure, and then you have this swoosh thing running accross the top for no apparent reason. That said, the one at the very top (running under the baby) looks nice and sort of reminds me of looking at the upper part of a globe, which would fit well with the name of the site. however, then one below that is just sort of redundant and could be dropped in my opinion. very nice work though!

smoove - really tight work on that one, simple, straightforward and clean. me likes.

and buzzy - well it's obvious you know what the hell you're doing!

Great looking site fizz. :)

I would recommend looking in to doctype switching to knock IE6 into standards rendering mode instead of quirks mode. You won't have to mess with a lot of IE specific fixs for it's non-standards rendering.

E.g. IE in quirks mode will ignore the body's font size inside table cells, whereas in standards mode it will use the body's font-size as it us supposed to.

http://www.alistapart.com/ has some great articles to read and I can highly recommend reading Designing With Web Standards by Zeldman.

I hired someone to write it for me so I knew it worked the way I wanted it to :p It's great, it does exactly what I need it to do and it's easy enough for my content manager to use (and she's pretty web-illiterate). No fiddling with any crap that doesn't quite do what I want it to, and it's easy to customise. Well worth the investment, IMO.

I've written a couple of simple VST plugins. One of these days I'll get around to putting a website up, but until then, if anyone wants 'em PM me and I'll send them to ya (file size is v. small)
