Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to go about weaning down from a 16mg of sub a day to nothing in 1 month? I am sick of being dependent on something and would like to be completed clean. Thanks.

If you do that in one month, withdrawls will be inevitable. A friend of mine recently spent a month going from 2MG to zero and and he got QUITE SICK, like he was hanging out and he ended up using as he couldnt eat or go to work. The short answer is that if you do it in such a short period of time, it wont work.

How sick you are going to be really depends on how long you've been taking the Suboxone, your own individual sensitivity to withdrawal symptoms, your metabolism, etc. You will likely have to put up with some level of discomfort if you are going to taper that rapidly. There are a bunch of threads on here about tapering off Suboxone, and dealing with symptoms of opioid withdrawals.

At the beginning you can likely drop fairly quickly but the lower your dose gets the harder it is. If you can mentally bear the withdrawal symptoms and have done a lot of work on your mental addiction and the reasons you use in the first place and have learned how to deal with cravings, a rapid taper can be done, but it can be unpleasant for many people so please be careful as for a lot of people getting withdrawal symptoms is enough to drive them back to their drug of choice. There are things you can do and take that will help though. How long have you been taking Subxone and how long have you been at your current dose? Do you normally find you are very sensitive to withdrawals? Are you doing therapy, meetings or anything like that to work on your mental addiction?

EDIT: If you are looking for a taper schedule - If you want to go from 16mg to zero in 1 month, you would have to taper quite fast. One option would be dropping by around 40% (of whatever dose you were taking at that time) every 3 days. So the schedule would be:
Day 1-3: 10mg
Day 4-6: 6mg
Day 7-9: 4mg
Day 10-12: 2.5mg
Day 13-15: 1.5mg
Day 16-18: 1mg
Day 19-21: 0.6mg
Day 22-24: 0.4mg
Day 25-27: 0.25mg
Day 28-30: 0.15mg
You could also take supplements and/or medications (listed in the threads above) to help with any withdrawal symptoms while you were tapering.

Or if you were ok with dropping off from 1mg to 0mg you could do this schedule:
Day 1-3: 12mg
Day 4-6: 10mg
Day 7-9: 8mg
Day 10-12: 6mg
Day 13-15: 5mg
Day 16-18: 4mg
Day 19-21: 3mg
Day 22-24: 2.5mg
Day 25-27: 2mg
Day 28-30: 1mg

If you have only been on Suboxone for a short time ignore what I write. If you have been on it for a long time,I think coming off so fast is a very bad idea.16mg. of Suboxone is a high dose.Coming off so fast is going to make you very sick for a long time.If your goal is to be clean, why not just lower your dose slowly so you don't get so sick and take the chance of doing other worse opiates?

Sweets, please read my post in the newbie forum. It be a bitch. How long were you on 6mg per day of Sub? I belie3ve I was on Sub too long; guess my doc liked his Beechcraft.
They have done no research, that I know of, of peoples that were on Sub. for a long time. Good Luck

At the beginning you can likely drop fairly quickly but the lower your dose gets the harder it is.

This is a very vital piece of information. You can probably cut your dose in half right away without any major discomfort, and if it's that bad you can take another mg every 30-40 minutes until you are comfortable. Then you cut down from that dose. When I dropped down from 16mg I was fine until 4mg and under. If you really want to get off in a month then I suggest lowering your dose as much as possible in the beginning so that you can do somewhat of a proper taper at the end.

I too am in a situation like this.
Is jumping off at 1 mg really hard? Last time I tried to jump was at 2mg, and it was uncomfortable for long enough that I got back on the stuff after 2 weeks.
I made a post regarding a taper plan a while back, but my circumstances have changed. I have a smaller amount of the drug left than I intended on.

Is a 1mg jump off bad? I plan on using high dose loperamide, low dose dxm, and (hopefully) clonidine to help me. Thanks for the input guys.
