I've used agar in school to grow bacteria or mold cultures but I don't see the advantage of using it to grow mushrooms.

not to grow them, just to get a culture that i like with strong rhizomatic growth. if you isolate a chunk on an agar pitri dish and use that instead of a spore syringe they say your going to have a quicker colonization time and more mushrooms (when you put it in the jar)

Not to mention more potent mushrooms, if you take the time to find a potent isolate. Also all the fruitbodies will be equipotent, due to same genetics, so it's easy to create standardized dosages.

I love sleeping late on weekends. I had lots of funny dreams today. I went into a cafe and there was a horse there, and for some reason it seemed completely normal to me. Then I went outside and there was another horse, but bigger. Then it turned out this horse was actually a gypsy girl dressed as a horse. Then she and two guys who go to the same clinic as I told me to get into their van, so they would take me to the station. I said ok and got in. The van was really small. Then at some point I asked what station they were taking me to, they said "the train station" and I said like fuck that, I don't want to go to a train station, so I jumped out and started walking. Then I woke up.

how can you find a potent isolate?

Process is simple really. In theory.

First you grow a batch of multispore, then you clone several fruits that have favorable characteristics, such as clustering, early fruiting, favorable fruit body size (opinions vary on big vs. small fruit bodies) and isolate all the rhizomorphic strains from each fruitbody.

Then you grow a batch of each isolate, sample each batch and see which one is most potent. Then you keep that isolate and keep growing it.

Remember to label your isolates and batches so you won't get confused on them...
