What price another Sri Lanka collapse 1000/1 at the bookies 4 an England win last time n look what happened
Sangakarra out already n Dilshan can't bat cos he's injured , could lightning strike twice ?

should put this in the gamlbing thread really but doubt anY1 would understand

Gotta say football stomps on cricket for live viewing, especially if it's a good game.

The best cricket atmosphere I ever been in was when we beat the Aussies in 2005 at Edgbaston by 3 runs, bloody amazing but that didn't touch Wolves getting promoted a couple of seasons ago.

I do love my cricket tho...

lol at the size of this thread now, would you like some sauce with those words? ;)

Well...the thread is over 2 years old for just 600+ posts. Take away the contributions of the top four posters and you lose half the posts.

That aside, I'm glad it's not died and like you I'm heartened it has as many contributors as it has.

cricket, the only sport i have seen live (and the only one i would)

Interesting statement you've made there.

Me too. Best BL thread ever.....maybe....

Some good batting today, but our bowling can be very poor at times. We could get seriously punished by the Indians.

I would hardly choose the A league over a cricket match. I call bullshit on hooks original quote.

8 hours coked in the sun drinking beer > 2 hours sipping beef stock

Agreed, I spose it's what you want aint it?

I mean, in the Premier league, the stewards' heads wud fucking explode if they saw u drinking in the stands (fine a few steps away down into the stand but not in ur seat), so having an all day session in the sun with ur mates when ur team's spanking someone IS incredibly brilliant fun. I love the banter with the other fans too, summat else u never get at the footy due to the segregation.

But in terms of intensity and emotion then footy has to win nearly every time, surely? Cricket wins for value for money.

I've never been to an A league match though, maybe it's nowt like a black country derby when ur Premier league survival is at stake. I can guarantee that cricket has a way to go to beat that matchday experience.

And to any WBA fans out there - thanks for keeping us up, you tossers!:p

A-League doesn't really have the atmosphere at a lot of games, because of the distance teams have to travel. I mean, a few seasons ago, Perth were battling Wellington to avoid finishing bottom. Perth is about 1 1/2 times as far from Wellington as London is from Moscow. Not a lot of fans travelled for that particular derby ;)

I luv Both Cricket n Footy n have watched plenty of Live Footy round Europe and in England .
I've also watched alot of County Cricket . A few Tests in England and been on one Tour, Sri Lanka 2007.
If i had the choice of a Prem footy match or aday at a Test India V England say i'd be at the cricket straight away.
Prem footy is a huge rip off n its quite sad really tghat the folk that have been supporting their teams through the 70n 80s are in some cases priced out of the game.

Wud you still have the same opinion if you got to go for free though? Taking the cost out of the equation?

The prices are a bloody scandal, all around the rest of Europe it's lots, lots cheaper AND they even let you stand if you want to! Imagine that! Luckily, I get a season ticket bought for me at Molineux so cost isn't an issue. If it was then I just wouldn't be able to afford to go to more than a game or 2 a year.

Actually, I've only paid for one test in the last 6 years but been to at least 3 a summer, including both the ashes series. How I managed that though is another story...:)

Fuckin armchair fans......;)

Just look how many the Barmy Army to took Aussie for the Ashes?

Really tight match going on between Lancs & Durham at the moment - a top of the table clash and there's not even commentary available on it. They want to get there act together. Also will Lancs be penalised for a pitch that allowed 23 wickets to fall on the first day ?

wow 10 wicket win in the ODI, in about half the overs available.

WRT to the lancs durham pitch - after reading your comments I went to have a look about it and the only thing I could find was a blog thing on the beeb site which had a comment saying that the inspector said it was one of the best he'd seen, so the quantity of wickets must have been down to bad batting and good bowling.

Somerset looking good once more in T20, i think we lost 2 many County championship games at the start to contend this year.
Suppiah 6 w for 5 world record figures the other night.
Trescothick seems to have found his form , still rekon hes the best Opening Bat in England , shame about the Mental Health , Englands loss is certainly Somersets gain.

Looking forward to what will be the deciding one dayer , a shame they have alll been so one sided.
Intresting to see how the pitch is going to be prepared , i heard yesterday that they are going to switch it round or something i'll have a gander on Cricinfo later n see what they were chatting about.

Really pleased for Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas , one of my favourite cricketers and having a great season with Northampton , definatley one of the finest left armers ever , still making the ball talk and deciving Batsmen.

Can't help but wonder if he would have made a difference to th Sri Lanka test Attack , which was a tad lacking in variation . I suppose after 111 tests and 355 wickets e s done his bit for the country.

So who's everyone elses favourite Bowler n why?
I choose Vaas cos of his consistency , cos i've met him n he's a really nice guy n Murali wouldn't have all of thoose wickets if weren't 4 Vaas at the other end .

Thanks for that info - I cared not anyway because Durham won - I had suspected pitch doctoring because Lancs had been completely outplayed by Durham earlier in the year & I had a fancy they knew that would happen again so had prepared a pitch would give the result to the side who won the toss - 50/50 being much better odds than say a 90% chance of defeat.
Obviously this is the workings of my paranoid mind because an official statement is an official statement. :)
