What a great 1st day .

I woke up when we had them 4 down & Tendulkar N Yuvraj were at the crease . Watched a bit & didn't see any wickets .
Got home for the last 4 overs & 2nd new ball . Which Anderson Struck with straight away . Nice of Sehwag to give his wicket away:) . Thought we were good in the field .
Dhoni could potentially hurt us if he hangs around so hopefully we can get rid of him with this new ball.

After all the talk about the pitch & Dhoni wanting it to turn from day one . It seems to be a decent wicket.
I would much rather have a pitch where a result is the most likely outcome rather than a Flat wicket , where the most likely outcome is a draw.
 
I think this is a flat wicket and India royally cocked it up. Actually England bowled well and India gave us Sehwag's and Kohli's wickets. I reckon that's a 500+ pitch for the first innings. England couldn't be much better placed after losing the toss.

Wickets for Anderson when Broad is dropped, coincidence? I think not. Pressure from Finn, instead of Broad giving easy runs, equals wickets for Anderson.

How could it possibly go wrong from here? 8)
 
Yes Busty, we're brilliant. Or, read Indian fans comments on the match (cricinfo), and you'll see we are beating a useless pile of poo.

We can but make them look like Bangladesh.

Indian fans, though. The world's greatest pessimists. They were all worried before the NZ tour that the Kiwis were going to thrash them. They probably genuinely do think that their team is shit - they always do.

In NZ news: our coach tried to tell our captain that he wanted him to stop captaining the one-day team and concentrate on tests. What he actually told him was 'we're planning on changing the leadership'. Captain (who had just scored 142 and won a test in Sri Lanka) freaked out and stood down from the team completely. We now have our two best batsmen out (the other one being Ryder, who's hitting 50s and centuries at better than a run a ball in any form of the game you care to name), and McCullum (who shouldn't be anywhere near the national team) leading it. I knew our victory was too good to last.
 
McCallum is a big reason NZ cricket is a joke. He is an average bat, who refuses to accept that he is not an opener. He should be batting no higher than 5 yet the powers above are too scared to tell him what to do for the good of the team. Ross is a great man who has to lead a rag tag bunch of half decent club cricketers who sell their soul to the IPL every year. He has beaten Australia and Sri Lanka away in the past 12 months (admittedly he lost 10 on the trot) while being about the only regular performer.

I would love to believe that we can turn things around in the way the West Indies has risen from the ashes of despair, but then again we are also talking about the same team that no longer plays Test cricket in Auckland, the countries biggest market with arguably the best weather,

India are shit, no arguments there. England will come away from this tour briming in confidence after they were smashed by SA last up, yet Australia will likely white wash them too come March and it will be game on for the Ashes. I hope the IPL collapses and Tendulker bats on until he is 43 and averages 13.
 
Hmm, who would you open with?

Guptill, Ryder, Taylor (c), Williamson, Flynn, Franklin (?), McCullum (w), Vettori (Patel), Southee, Boult, Bracewell (Milne).

I don't like Ryder opening or Franklin at 6, but I can't think of anyone else to open or another number 6 who can bowl a bit. Unless you put Ryder there and hope him and Taylor can bowl a bit.
 
Take your pick really, McCallum is no Gilchrist no matter how much he lights it up in 20/20. Too often Ross has to face the new ball after 2-3 overs any way. I would pick him soley as a batsmen as he is getting on a bit. Either of the saffa wicket keepers show promise. The bowlers are starting look the goods now, they just lack 5-10k/hr each. At least they show promise of swinging the ball at some sort of pace. It was tough relying on Styris and co for so many years.
 
He has been dining on that t20 158* for fukin ever. I thought he was a talented maverick but his fellow countrymen don't seem to have much love . I don't follow NZ , & since coming on here have probably took more notice of them . I don't have a problem with them like the Aussies in fact as i have mentioned they have players that i have admired , some more for their determination & other traits players like Martin , O'Brien those kind of players. The Fleming era .

Yeah it was a flat pitch G, yet India managed to make it look difficult :? That was a poor team or collection of players cos they aren't a team . Many reasons , but i like to think that this is T20 biting them in the arse .

So what is a Samit Patel & how does it work ? I'm still none the wiser.
 
When he fires McCallum is world class, and to be far he has shown some signs of holding back and digging in over the past year. I just don't have any respect for his captaincy. Ross may be too meek but if being captain was all about show and cricketing prowess Shane Warne would have captained Australia.

Iain O'Brien is great, I follow him on Twitter. He talks a lot about mental health issues, raising awareness and that. Lot of respect for him for that.
 
And why don't you play in Auckland anymore?

I changed planes there once. It pissed down incessantly for three hours.

I'm upset with Danish Kaneria , always liked him . When the Pakistan Team do their collective praying he being a Christian was bouyed off . I always wondered how it made him feel .

Before Yousuf Youhana became Mohammad Yousuf his averages were far lower .
