After looking through some of the WD mega threads for advice I've found that Kratom helps significantly with the physical aspects of heroin WD. My lady on the other hand is having a tough time dealing with the mental side of WD. She will get very sad and emotional over anything that is slightly negative or depressing to the point that she's in tears. It's becoming difficult for her to stay clean as she will use just to prevent the risk breaking into tears at work.

Any tips for someone in this situation?

For me benzos make all the differance in the world mentally during withdrawl but you have to be careful cause they are addicting in there own right.

I probably should have mentioned that she does have a script for kpins. Even with stacking kpins and kratom her depression is out of control. I found her crying this morning because she read Kanye West's wiki entry. Apparently the part about his mother passing away was too much for her to handle.

Being on benzos long term can cause that sort of thing as well. For me, buprenorphine has been the most helpful with heroin withdrawal. Much better than kratom, which I dislike. Obviously it is an opioid though, so it's not the same as being clean off opiates.

I think we're going to go the buprenorphine route problem is there's a ridiculously long waiting list in our city such bs.

Is there only one clinic that has bupe? If you go to the. Bupe website it lists every doctor in your area qualified to script out bupe. If you can't wait however long the line is you might try methadone. It's not as good in my opinion but it sure as hell beats nothing at all.

My advice ... is to go to a medical detox. Kicking ct almost never works. At a hospital that specializes for that sort of thing, they will medicate you with clonidine, loperimide, some kpins and suboxone/subutex. Best way IMHO. Aftercare to staY clean for sure.

To tide a good deal of the physical effects of withdrawal over loperamide (Immodium) can be of great help. It is in fact a powerful opioid, but doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier. This would be good for you. Stacking kratom on top would obviously help more. For the both of you I'd recommend the kratom (or DXM for her) and Klonipin. Using loperamide and kratom will obviously prolong withdrawal, but will help with the symptoms. For her, I might suggest in place of kratom, low dose DXM (maybe 60 mg) once in the morning and once at night, or just in the morning. This shouldn't be combined with kratom because they are both serotenergic and could cause serotonin syndrome (potentially lethal). The DXM shouldn't be used for very long, no longer than a week or a week and a half, because it is neurotoxic. So maybe try loperamide, kratom, and Klonipin for yourself, and for her, kratom OR DXM, and Klonipin. All of these drugs could help both of you, just don't mix DXM and kratom, and start slowly with the DXM.

What dosage of loperamide do you recommend?

Thanks for all the responses everyone.

Well, one capsule contains 2 mg, I would not exceed 16 mg per day, and use on sort of as needed basis. Take good 4 - 6 mg when you first get it to help subdue the symptoms quickly.
