Every once in a while, Ill read a book or see somethin on tv, or watever, that kinda captures my interest and Ill get curious about it, its like a spark that starts this super intense interest to find out any and everything I can about that particular thing. Then for a few days or weeks or w/ever, Ill be online readin as much as i can about it, gettin books about it, etc. until Im satisfied and I go on to somethin else.

Im thinkin I aint the only one who does this, Im pretty sure its a human nature to be intrigued by things you dont know that much about and get into a "phase" of just bein really into a certain thing. To just like, devour all the information you can get on that subject like a starving person eating their first meal in weeks.

For me it tends to be history related things. Since I only finished 9th grade (got a GED but they dont teach no history on that test), theres a ton of shit that I am clueless about when it comes to history, american and world wide. So, alot of times the subject that I will end up really into, is a particular time period or event in a country that I never knew about before.

Right now, Im readin a book about India during the time that Indira Gandhi was prime minister and declared this Emergency situation. I never knew the first thing about it and thought that she was either Gandhi's wife, or daughter 8) before I read this, and had never heard of the Emergency, and it made me be like wow, theres a whole huge amount of things I dont know about india and its history and it got me all into it now. So at the moment India is my obsession, but not just that time period of the Emergency, but the cultures and traditions and stuff too, the way that the british ruled it for a long time, the way Pakistan used to be a part of it til they did the Partition, the old custom of sati where widows would climb onto their husbands funeral pyre and burn themself alive, all that. theres just so much to learn, its mad intriguing to me right now. Im in a phase that I just am mad absorbed in anything I can learn about it, like Im starving for anything related to that. So, to answer my own question, yea im definately in a "india phase" right now.

Also, whenever Im into somethin like this, every little thing I learn is mad interesting to me, so Im always tryna talk about it with people, and then I realize they just aint interested when every half hour as I read i stop to be like "oh hey did you know that....." So, here is the spot to share any of your interesting facts that you are learning too. Id love for this thread to not only be a spot to share my passion of the moment but to also learn from other peoples.

So, anyways, how about yall? Wats the subject that you are really into right now, that you just cant get enough of and want to learn more about? It aint necessarily gotta be a place or time or w/ever, maybe you read a newspaper article about a local santeria priest or somethin and now you got all curious about Santeria, who knows. I think we all go thru these periods of bein kinda obsessed with a particular subject and learning all we can about it so I would love to hear about everybody elses.

Rocks.
My mother and I got a tumblr and we've been collecting beach stones to polish and try to make things out of- So I've been reading a lot about rocks- Yesterday we went to the library and got 4-5 books on different stones.
Our first batch of stones are tumbling now and its driving us crazy not being able to check them!! :D

New Guinea.
Actually, I was inspired to do this after reading somebody's comments in one of the threads on bluelight's CE&P. Reading Guns Germs and Steel. Along these lines, for background, I'm watching Cannibal Exploitation films. Titles like Ultimo mondo cannibale (1977) (Last Cannibal World; Jungle Holocaust) and Cannibal Holocaust (1980) feature stone age tribes living in the jungles of South America and Asia.

Also watching documentaries about First Contact with cannibal tribes, for example "First Contact BBC." It's about an American making money by offering First Contact tours in remote jungles. For something like $8000 each, he takes the tourists into the jungle and meets up with indigenous tribesmen. These people, he claims, have never before contacted outsiders....

and "First Contact" (1930) on Youtube. It was filmed in 1930 by 3 Australian brothers. At the time, the island of New Guinea was mostly unexplored. The three brothers took 90 indigenous porters and trekked nito the interior of the island. Filming as they went they found almost a million indigenous people living in a stone age condition in deep valleys hidden in the central mountain range.

First off Lacey K gotta say I love you for doin this, if you're a girl if you're a guy then respect, but i've been stuck on the human mind. Ever since i started my dance with molly, i've never wondered the real dynamics of how it affected my thought process and countless other things that dictate how the downstairs bosses receive the message. I got caught up in the book and it took flight from there, for a period of about a week and a half then it subsided. Period

Right now I am obssessed with learning the interviewing techniques called the STAR model and going absolutely insane trying to get my resume perfect!

I'm always reading about jewelry so I can learn more and subsequently sell more. Any time I see a piece I love, I will stop at nothing to figure out how it's done so I can create something similar. I'm looking at wedding jewelry now so I can design my own pieces for the ceremony.

Aside from that I have been reading nonstop about pregnancy for obvious reasons :P

right now im obsessed with the human mind/body.

im AMAZED at how by simply changing your body you can change your body chemistry very much.
this has led me to becoming obsessed with researching different supplements and how they affect me

i would say i am reaaaally obsessed about the postiv effect of psychedelic on human mind :D

as of latley calculus and the french language have been subjects I always try to find time to learn about. it brings me way to much satisfaction. moving on to Calc-2 soon and can atleast read crappily in french.

I really wish I could find the time to learn a new musical instrument though or at least get better at recording

grrr sometimes there is not enough time in the day. anyone else feel like this? I feel like im a wierdo because the majority of things i want to spend hours doing are solitary activities while my friends and girlfriend are the type who really want more group type things

I am studying German at uni this year and it's completely taken me over!!! I LOVE it!! It's such an awesome language, and I seem to just have a natural affinity for it. I've been reading German websites, I've changed my facebook over to German, I've just ordered some German novels off ebay, and I've been watching the German news every weekend. I've even started talking to my pets in German and trying to re-teach my dog all his commands in German :D

Ich liebe Deutsch, es ist fantastisch!! =D

one of my sons was doing this for a bit and used the stones to make key rings and sold themn to raise funds for the school, it was pretty cool.
I kept a couple and bought some what I can only describe as small silver cages to add onto a chain for a different sort of neckalce I loved it, right up until my neice stole it and a few other ones I made for her and her sister <3 I dont mind. Might try and get time to make another few though :)

Oh, I tend to have these research binges too...

Several months ago it was learning about psychedelics.
Several months before that it was about astral projection.
Currently: hard to say. I started playing Minecraft, so maybe that. Also I've been cooking more lately.

If only I could teach my dog sign language, I'd be set for life!

I know of an ex-professor of mine that has taught her dog commands in four different languages. I don't think it'll take you long to teach your dog German. :)

I'm studying electronics and sound engineering and music theory and networking and time management. I'm horribly unorganized and that needs to change on account of 5 traffic tickets in about 6 months all from being late to things and driving fast, or rushing my morning routine and not having food and being mad hungry and on a hurry to get home at the end of the day.

But yeah I want to learn how to modify guitar electronics and effects pedals and amplifiers and speakers and shit like that, and I also want to know how to do recording, and music I just love, so it's not like one of those things that catches your eye for a week and you watch a few documentaries about it. I play music the moment I wake up, I hit my head on my guitar when I sleep because It's leaning right up against my bed as it's the 2nd to last thing I do before bed.

By networking I mean how I interact with people on an economic and social way. Getting my name out there as a musician, working with different people all the time, etc. I used to hate facebook for all the shallow highschool-esque bullshit, but now I love it because I use it to make money and set up meetings and stuff.

Right now I'm just learning about the basics of soldering and reading a simple schematic, eventually I want to build my own effects pedals.

im german neo.

Cool! Sprichst du Deutsch?

Yeah it's easy for "sit" because that is "sitzen" or "setzen" which sounds the same.
But for "drop" (i.e. lie down) it's a bit harder..."ruhen" sounds nothing like it and he just looks at me like "Huh??" =D

I've been obsessed with the synthesis procedures for a wide range of psychoactives, I think I'm a little too obsessed....
