Hey, my name is Tom. Im an 18 year old male from the United Kingdom.
I have been following this forum since around the end of 2009, Ill admit I was mainly drawn to this board as Mephedrone(filthy drug) was becoming more widespread and I had a desire to learn more about this new drug as I was around 16/17 years old and getting into the dance/drug scene. Id experimented earlier in 2008 with Cannabis but apart from that, had not really touched any other form of drugs.
So it's now 2011, and in the last 2 years my interest in mind altering drugs combined with my Studies in human Psychology have created a great interest for me in the aspects of drugs on the human subconcious and concious mind.
In the last 2 years SWIM has experimented with, Cannabis, Cocaine, MDMA, Mephedrone, Methylone, Ketamine, Methoxetamine, 6-apb, AMT, Magic Mushrooms (Liberty Caps), Psilocybe Mexicana, Psilocybe Atlantis, Psilocybe Cubensis (The latter 3 i experimented with on 3 different trips to Amsterdam in the quiet haven of a shop called "Conscious Dreams", i recommend this shop and its "Trip Book" a must for anyone with interest in Visionary/Spiritual Experiences).
So im in my last year studying A2 Psychology amongst other subjects, and wish to study Psychology even further at uni, next year.
During the summer my father gave me some books to read, them being "Moksha" by Aldous Huxley, who incidentally, I have discovered to be such an interesting and profoundly intellectual mind. Moksha gave me a completely new view on life, in which I was yearning for. As the current state of the society which we live in, is in my opinion, no way all there is to life. It also provided great insight and reflection towards previous Psychedelic experiences I had encountered, which after reading this book, I maturely accepted, that I was not prepared for. Reading this book has also lead me to research the works of Humphry Osmond, Albert Hoffman, & Timothy Leary amongst others. (These may be blindingly obvious to older members, but remember I am only 18 xD).
The other book my father gave to me to read, which i'm sure a lot of you could guess what it is, is called 'Pihkal: A Chemical Love Story", by Dr. Alexander Shulgin and Ann Shulgin, I am in the process of completing this book, but as expected, it is quite an extraordinary read.
My new found interest in this quite controversial aspect of Psychology is exhilarating and after obtaining(hopefully) a BSc Honours in Psychology I hope to do a Masters in a course which is fairly new on the Uni syllabus, that being "Transpersonal Psychology and Consciousness Studies (MSc)".
So thats my life plan so far haha.
I have never posted on bluelight before as I have mainly used is as a reference point toward my experiments, and I felt my knowledge of the chemical, biological and psychological process which is discussed in such detail on this forum, was way out of my depths of knowledge. But with Uni fast approaching, I need to up my game, and I feel that the best place to conduct the discussion I am interested in, is here on Bluelight, as my current resources(them being schools and libraries) are not too willing to discuss such a controversial aspect of Psychology.
Hope this wasn't too detailed for an introduction!!! I look forward to speaking with members of this forum!!
If anyone has any recommendations on any other books to read to help me with my studies, or any information to send me on the right path, would be massively appreciated!!
Peaceeee
