Ingesting or inhaling insecticides may lead to an altered state of perception and/or consciousness, producing euphoria similar to that from methamphetamine use.1 This use of pyrethroids, a chemical component commonly found in household insecticides (eg, Raid Ant & Roach), can result in hyperexcitation.

The street drug “KD” is created when people spray bug spray like Raid or Off that have high concentrations of pesticides directly onto substances like tobacco or synthetic marijuana and then smoke it. This can lead to a severe reaction like the inability to speak or move while also inhibiting the function of breathing. You may also shit yourself. The movements are slow and lethargic with a lot of drooling that can be described as a catatonic state. The drug is highly addictive and just a small amount can lead to an overdose.

Indianapolis Fire Department Station 27 has reported almost a dozen KD overdoses in just one day. The biggest problem with this new street drug is that bug spray is accessible to anyone. Also being a synthetic drug, it cannot be detected on a standard drug test.

But wait, it gets even worse when bug killer gets used in conjuction with harder drugs. This even more depraved combination of hard drugs which is sometimes called “Hotshot” is created through a simple process of combining methamphetamine and bug spray but instead of smoking it, users are injecting It directly into the vein under their cock. So for around $20 a bag, the user can visit an experience only known to a cockroach just seconds before it’s death, which admittedly sounds pretty neat.

How many of you are going

"Have we still got that bottle of RAID"?

Be honest.

(And dont tell me you met god and met jesus when you smoked it)

So when you see those Bluebottle mother fuckers spinning around on their backs at a hundred miles an hour after they've been bought down by a fly spray, that is "hyperexcitation" and means they are in a state of euphoria?

And not had what passes for their CNS annihilated by the spray, and been put into some kind of hyper-demented death spiral?

I suspect an Ismene spoof.

If you'd posted about young people in developing countries apparently harvesting the fumes of fermented excrement, and then huffing on it to get a buzz, I wouldn't have believed it, but apparently it really is a "thing" that really is happening.

This is not a thing. I dont know why people keep saying it is. Jenkem and banana peels all over again

Yeah it is. Google it. Makes a lot more sense than jenkem.

(Not that Im knocking jenkem - I saw God on it)

We present a case of pyrethroid toxicity associated with altered mental status (AMS) in a patient who smoked insecticide-laden marijuana. The patient became hyperexcitable, combative, and agitated within 4 hours of ingestion.

Yes, I posted about this several years ago. It does appear to be a 'thing'.

Apparently, you need to run an electric current through a wire mesh, then spray your pyrethroid insecticide onto the mesh and it crystallises into shards that look like meth. This is then used as a cut for meth.

Pyrethrins/pyrethroids affect the nervous system, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they act as a very dirty stimulant.

In addition to this, there are also many cases of anticoagulant rodenticides being added to cannabis and synthetic cannabinoids - especially brodifacoum, which is a highly potent rodenticide.

God knows why, as these substances only inhibit vitamin K, preventing blood clotting when injured. They don't affect the CNS, so I can't see the point.

In Malaysia they brew kratom with mosquito repellent I. Some regions and sell it as tea. It is a pretty popular as an adjuvant to powdered catalytic converters, human remains, and, sometimes, a little tramadol, fentanyl or heroin (bombé or kush).
Might be good with jenkem, for those adventurous enough to assay….

They spin on their backs, not on their heads, after being felled by a spray.

This was the only example I could find.

This one is pedestrian and feeble, compared to Bluebottles. I swear those MFs are turbo-charged on w/e vile sustenance they live on. And then the spray sends them into the wildest frenzy, bashing themselves into windows, walls, and ceilings, like lunatics on crystal meth. They do that for a minute or two, before they enter the wild death spiral back spinning phase. They spin extremely fast and very loudly during this phase. I can certainly believe that they are experiencing 'hyperexcitation.'

If they are in a place that I can reach during this phase, then I'll give them a quick solid thwack with a rolled up newspaper etc, and put them out of their misery.

But they don't seem to understand English, unlike wasps. :\

I swear I've told annoying wasps several times, those that would not just go away, that if they don't get out of the door that I have opened for them right now, then the spray is coming out. No kidding, at least 3 times in a row now, the wasps that were previously bumbling around the ceiling, just out of reach, instantly went out the door, the moment I said that. But this does not work on Bluebottles. :p

They likely feel something not unlike a nicotine OD x100, then black out, seizure, death. Some insectisides have super potent nachr agonist compounds. I wonder if a low dose of these would be pleasant in humans though…
