Well, it is hard to give a wide-ranging, safe answer to the question. MAOIs definitely have a lot of individual variations, and your relative blood pressures and reactions to drugs might be something to watch. And what dose of the MAOI you start at.
On the other hand, some go by 5x the half life rounded up to the week to ten days, roughly. And with monitoring, inpatients go faster. Some are even on parnate and wellbutrin, and even desipramine.
(I know someone on 50 of parnate and 225 of wellbutrin. I'm on 80 of Parnate, and a doc considered some bupropion or even a small dose of ritalin for me. I have orthostatic hypotension on the drug though, and low blood pressure.) And well, I think that level of depression usually signals a unique brain chemistry
Yeah, it probably would be okay vs. something like clomiprimine, but getting in the habit of rushing with maois doesn't always pay off well...and if you have some bipolar traits, quick switches aren't the best.
But I'm overly cautious because of some oddball reactions. Well, and somewhat depressed...
But instead of this long post...sure.
