was watching tv this morning

And this differs from Gibberings how... ?

Or is it some form of reality is stranger than fiction type of concept?

I'm not expecting a long and prosperous life for this thread. In fact I think it may have been stillborn. Can we keep Gibberings to the Gibberings thread please - is what it's there for.

Actually, stay of execution, which EADDer was it that did get their teeth whitened? Wasn't OTW. I've got Spade and Issy going round in my head but suspect that's just a sexual fantasy rather than having any toohsome relevance. Name that EADDer in one.

Aw. I like random little threads like this. Too scared to make any myself, mind.

... is that a common fantasy?

I consider it to be high culture - not in the least bit common.

Wasn't Pagey that got her teeth whitened afaik. Can see the line of thinking but wasn't her. Was a fella I'm sure, just less sure which fella.

Taking a gamble on codshit is something of an EADD tradition, I hear.

=D

And he is a contender. Isn't ringing the bell loudly but does seem an obvious candidate. I'm fairly sure it was somebody else though. Codshit absolutely would get his teeth whitened though. Seems the type somehow. As if teeth whitening had a type.

Before I took up smoking fags a few months back my teeth where whiter than those of American tv presenters, now they're fucking yellow.

I need to go see a dentist anyway, have a few cavities and need to get rid of a wisdom tooth.

The wisdom tooth I'll wait though, the dentist told me it's not urgent, I'll wait until I find myself in some country where they prescribe good painkillers, friend of mine from the US got two months of daily oxy after taking his out, mind this was a few years ago. Over here they would give me some crappy NSAID, not even codeine.

Yeh, but all that really does (like all polish) is take the top layer off yer enamel to make it look whiter. All toothpastes do this, but the baking soda ones are particularly bad for it - sorta like Ajax in paste form. (Having said that, remember the smokers toothpowder you used to get which was just a circular tin of sandpaper?)

I've been using mostly those enamel repair toothpastes recently - pricey (I always buy when on offer of course) but my teeth have been a bit iffy and think it's probably worth making the effort. It's really hard to find a decent toothpaste that doesn't also have whitening action whether you want it or not. Aside from the bog-standard cheap ones pretty much all the fancy-shmancy ones include whitening. Can't say I've noticed a huge difference but seems I'll be getting slightly whiter teeth whether I like it or not. It's mainly the above reason I have mild concern - what's the point in repairing enamel only to strip it at the same time :?

Just one month of no coffee or fags and your teeth will be in a much better shape than wasting cash on those fancy toothpaste, plus you save money, not buying either coffee or fags

I'm sure that's quite true but am buying fancy toothpaste for its supposed restorative powers rather than its supposed whitening powers. Suspect I did quite a bit of damage to me gnashers over the years - stims and good dental hygiene just don't go so well together much of the time (partly due to the dry mouth thing which does a lot of damage apparently, largely cos your days become very looooooooooooooong indeed and tend not to brush at suitable intervals as a result). Having to have another extraction in a couple weeks and quite pissed off cos it's just about visible rather than being a wisdom tooth. Having been going out of my way too look after them these last few years but seems there's a bit of catching up to do hence hoping fancy toothpaste may do what it claims to be able to do and do a few (presumably very) minor repairs. I get it on offer anyway so isn't really much more expensive than cheap toothpaste. Similar with mouthwash - use fancy-shmancy expensive ones but only cos I buy them cheap.
