Was this cotton fever ?

Yesterday I was a bit dopesick, i'm addicted to IV'ing 4mg dillies 3-4 times a day and i'mtrying to put a stop to this, i have some codeine contins, which i'm still saving until i am done with IV'ing dillies (I still have 1mg generic ones,unlike the awesome brand name 4mg dillies i usually obtain).

Well, i crush 2 of th 1 mg ones, knowing they leave a shitload of powder back because they are generics (PMS) and that's how shitty they are.

But, i couldnt find my sterile water vials, so i said fuck it and used tap water. Stirred, IV'd and didnt get much of anything, so i added water to the sludge left behind and prepped another shot.

1 hour later, i start to feel cold (it's blazing hot in canadia right now, 35+ celcius) and i get some little teeth chattering. I was already taking aspirin every 4 hours to find the pains from withdrawal so I didn't get that intense symptoms, except one, my god the headache, i took 20mg of diazepam, .2mg of clonidine and 50mg of benadryl, fell asleep, woke up 12 hours later with a still terrible headache, i ate some more aspririn and clonidine, and fell asleep for 3-4 hours more.

Now this morning, i feel kindof better, my forehead is still hurting a little, and my bed's sheets were so fuckin wet, that i've thrown them all in the washing machine even if i had just washed them a few days ago.

I remember having cotton fever twice before, it didn't last this long, i was shaking A LOT, like a motherfucking jackhammer when walking but i wouldnt have such a long lasting intense headache.

So is this cotton fever or I infected myself with something else according to you guys ? I feel better this morning, as i IV'd 2 more 1mg generic dilaudid, took aspirin, diazepam and 10mg dexedrine (cos i'm really sick of lying down in my bed). I don't have any other symptoms anymore except for a faint headache situated in the same places where it hurt as HELL yesterday/last night.

It just seems so different from the few times i actually had cotton fever.

This is very speculative but it sounds like it. But then again Maybe you're just ill?

When I've experienced something similar I found that drinking loads and loads of water really did help get over it quicker.
I think it flushed out my kidneys which were also in pain and it stopped my headache and stopped the shaking also.

UPDATE:

I think it might be worse than previously thought. The headache is mostly gone, but I still have fever, I am very cold according to my mother, but I sweat butckets.

My head feels weird...i think if i didn't have diazepam i'd be suffering convulsions because I definitely don't feel right.

I have to admit something, my sweet spot for injetion is on my right hand, as i have a very obvious vein showing there usually, but right now it's a big red bump and it looks like I might have given myself my first trackmark...and I stupidly keep injecting there because I have extreme trouble finding veins elsewhere. I do use Polysporin (2 antibiotics+ BHT cream) on that area right now...but now i'm scared I have sepsis. How can i know for sure i have contaminated my own blood by shooting in this obviously fucked area (it is a big red bump with little holes in it, its obvious that I shoot drugs in there in any case). I do use sterile equipment, water, and one-use only per syringe. I just...I mean, i just IV'd 3mg of those crappy 1mg generic dillies and i barely felt a rush (i still get a rush from 4mg ones) normally and I just feel a bit high, but the ill feeling is continuing. Nothing like the headache and teeth chattering from yesterday, but my head feels ...abnormal.

I don't want to go to the ER and admit to IV use, I know if i get sent to the methadone clinic, i'll still be able to use my dexedrine as prescribed, which I always did (i don't like to be spun the fuck out since a long time) but passing 14 days before I can be left alone and needing to pick up methadone every morning ?

I think methadone is shooting yourself in the foot, suboxone would be a lot better. But in my province, subs are a whopping 25 dollars a day, whille methadone is free, but way too powerful for me to accept switching to.

TL;dr How do you realize you have sepsis and when to go to the ER ? I know i would be treated anonymously and without my GP knowing about it so i wouldnt lose my real highly scheduled prescribed med, dexedrine. And anyway, last time i took information about this, getting an appointment for the free government methadone clinic is a 2 week wait...i'll probably be clean by then.

I know i can bypass most of the withdrawal by abusing my dexedrines a little (read it up, they used to give people dexamphetamine for opiate withdrawal), i did it before with the help of booze.


I'm turning 30 tomorrow...i don't want to spend this day of my life in a hospital bed full of judgemental nurses and docs treating me like shit in case i have given myself sepsis....but i will do it in case some of you guys have experience with giving yourself blood infections through IV use of opiates.

Doubtful it was from the tap water. It looks infected, I would go to the hospital and ask for the advice of a doctor that can look at it more closely. It might get you stereotyped as drug abuser but at least your hand will be in good shape. And dont shoot in small veins like that they have a tendency to roll.

From all I know, this is just scar tissue forming over scar tissue...hence one of the big reasons why I want to stop IV'ing...i can only do it on my hands, my skin is too thick to do it anywhere else.

Not sure if it infected like I said, because when I touch it, it just feels like scar tissue and fucked up skin from overscarring, no pus or abscess there.

But yeah...i'm already feeling better overall...if i wake up tomorrow with the same shit feelings tho, i'm gonna have a happy 30th birthday at the ER...

sounds like a particulate dirty hit which is the longer of the two dirty shots. it's when particulate matter gets in the shot through poor filtering.
