Just wondering. I know it dominated the acid house scene, But was ecstasy big in jungle too? if there's anyone who was into the scene in the 90's let me know, sorry this stuff interests me.

as I said, really interested in the link between drugs and music and culture.

I only caught the tail end of the 90's but e's were a massive part of the scene.

There isn't a corner of dance music that hasnt embraced ecstasy I dont think. It just wouldn't be what it was without it imo...

Long may it continue :)

i think E was everywhere back then.
depends on what the OP means by big back then...

Jungle and e went hand in hand early 90's used to be acid aswell but toward the end of the 90'there was a lot more coke and a lot less acid but e's were always the main stay of a night

did a pill tha nite .

Weed is just a functional booster for other drugs, in this instance, I think.

I went to these parties, and they generally weren't as fun as your typical rave, but I sold a LOT of acid. I'd vote for acid over MDMA in this scene.

oooh me too, a couple in fact.......went to quite a few jungle raves at Trinity, we used to love the Ruffneck 'Ting parties =D

OP - yea the early and mid 90's jungle raves were totally awash with e, twas the main party fodder (mainly amongst the white kids as Brimz rightly obeserves, although all cultures partook liberally for sure )

What an awful situation now when folks are asking about "categorisation" of experience - a need to fit into genres, tribes n; labelled scenes. How sad, E was about freedom of expression, regardless of the "party".

Don't be a worrying about all that shit flower.

got 2 giggle at this though .

Try explaining that to the St Pauls n Easton Bad Boy Crew & The Trinity hahahah

They liked to blaze a spliff n stand n be moody whislt other more LEss inebriated folk would do a Dove n get messy fukin SIMPLE

Its not completely strange that people smoke weed at a rave it is a music enhancer but its not my thing. I like to be up and dancing when at a rave not monged out. Weed with alcohol is good but u can't beat E

I can understand weed at reggae and dubstep nights but sod being monged out

ive gotta be properly moving. easy to their own though

I used to love a 4am spliff while at DnB parties back in the day, usually going with my third or fourth pill for the night, have a fat one while it's coming up and space out with the lazers, fucking lovely that was

some places moreso than others, some predominantly black events like jungle raves in digbeth, birmingham i went to were much less friendly in atmosphere, and we're filled with weed smokers, drinkers, attitude and fights kicked off all the time. one night at the sanctuary in digbeth i personally saw twelve to thirteen big fights kick off on or near the dancefloor. another night with nicky blackmarket booked to play (dont think he showed) was shut down by police after some guy glassed a girl

been at other nights where you could just feel somethin was up, like a palpable vibe in the air, many of us picked up and commented on it. some guy went crazy on the dancefloor, twirling his jacket round his head and attacking a speaker. found out later the place had been flooded with acid, every fucker was on it, apparently. which obviously explained the odd vibe

this was very early 2000s though as opposed to 90's

@bhm - we may well of crossed paths at some point in time partying that side of town..who knows? digbeth was notoriously moody, never went full throttle in some of those places due to fear of upsetting some moody bastard with my antics....

You ever go to the Que Club? By far my favourite club of all time, that may be down to nostalgia though... 16/17 off my tits in an old church with 1500 other spangled ravers can have that effect on the mind.

Still a quality club :)

acid at a rave would be intense.

it's weird that people used to see acid as much more of a party drug than they do now.

Going to que club nye htid and dreamscape mixture of hardcore, jungle, d&b and old skool. Can't fucking wait!!
