Warrantless Domestic Car X-Rays By Nat'l Guard for Counternarcotics!

The ppl need 2 gain contorl again...we need 2rise up against the fukkin assholes in washington...it has already begun with the riots in oakland..keep it goin til we take back whats ours

We as citizens need to stand up and take back control before it's too late. i went to enlist in the national guard last year but was underweight and now i thank (insert deity here) it didn't work out. Political parties have become so goddamn polarized that it almost seems hopeless to expect people to join together, even for the common good. "divide and conquer" seems so fitting for the politicians and those in power with their own little agendas.

To be fair, local LE is obtaining a warrant, and merly asking the guard to provide a $$ piece of tech. The guard is not doing LE work, The arrests, charges, and warrants are handled by the civil police.

They could also hire a contractor, who, like the guard, would have no LE powers, just equipment, used under the LEO's authority.

Don't blame the guard, its the same old LEO's as usual.

Using ionization, counterdrug's machines can detect chemicals, explosives, narcotics on money, weapons, even fabric.
A simple swab can tell you if that surface had contact with those substances.

...

Gillis says, "its basically an x-ray. If you zoom in you can see the rifle laid across the bottom."

...

With a warrant, a department can request a scan. Then, with the swing of an arm, gamma rays outline the car and its skeleton.

...

In 2009, a driver was arrested, his car brought to the station and scanned after an officer smelled marijuana coming from the car.

So if you actually read the article carefully, you'll notice that a) no x-raying is actually being done. b) it's not warrantless. c) it's the high-tech equivalent of calling a K9 unit to a traffic spot to investigate probable cause.

as you well know, a cop can get a dog to fake positive as pretext for a search. at least with this new technology, a manual search is less likely to be done if the machine finds nothing. in other words, if you're already known to the police and need to transport drugs then find a way to fool the machine and your problems may actually be less.

Yeah I dunno if the guy who wrote the title even read the article or just lied in the title so more ppl would read it but it very clearly states they get a warrant b4 they can do this.

isnt the xray used for narcotics not counter narcotics or am i missing something? cuz nobody has mentioned it

or its just a title that could go both ways

No drugs were found, but that traffic stop and scan part of an investigation against the suspect.

Asst. Chief Brian Kilcullen with the Schenectady Police Department says, "our investigation continued for almost another year. He was eventually taken into custody on federal drug charges.

So, some cop thought he smelled a burning plant - cannabis - that makes people silly and hungry.
He scanned the guy's car, and found nothing.
Then the gov spent a year of money and energy to "investigate" the guy.
They eventually found that he had some drugs - possibly cannabis? - and he is now in jail for this victimless "crime".

Meanwhile, terrorism, illegal wars, rape, serial murder, and other violent crime continued or increased.

Good thing they got that guy!!!

fuck the national guard.

QFT.

Those ignorant non-warriors couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

A swiftly mobile, highly-disciplined & cohesive militia unit consisting of just 30 men and 3 officers could wipe out an entire national guard battalion.

probably.
weekend soldiers is what they are.
i know kids who are active in teh guard or wahtever but still in high school

I remember hearing about a legal case awhile back, involving a grow house.

Cops got suspicious because of the large electric bills.

So they took a heat map of the house from the street. Discovered the signs that a room looked like a grow room.

Since they didn't have a warrant, and because the evidence wasn't visible with normal eyes, ears or smell, the case was thrown out.

Anyone else remember this?
